Gotta love it. Anti-PC, but if someone criticizes him in the smallest way he becomes a defensive baby. He's really is the embodiment of the entitled class. If you're running on the anti-pc, say whatever you want card, shouldn't you have thicker skin?

Actually, I hope he wins so he can stay in the race just to annoy Rubio. Rubio is what's wrong with politics. He's just another puppet for billionaires and now the Republican establishment.

Explain. If Trump wins than he's the prohibitive favorite. I guess you're worried about a two dog race?

Correct.

Trump wins all day in a 3 man race easily.

The only chance that exists for Rubio is a one on one with Trump. Even if he got that I still think he'd lose and probably big. Rubio has a big decision to make on if he wants to run against Trump in Florida. He takes a 20 point loss and it could be a career killer.

In terms of Cruz, he's the actual candidate with a ceiling IMO.

Laura Ingraham of all people wrote a great piece on Rubio and the Republican party yesterday. Just running on the same failed Bush policies that put us in the whole we are in.

It's not hard to figure out what's going on here. The far right has desperately wanted to disrupt the political process for years and they've found their leader in Donald Trump. The moment he called Mexicans rapists, they fell in love.

This is concerning because Trump has given their sort of hate a platform on a national level and it's enabled them to come out from the shadows. My fear is that once Trump wins the primary and losses huge in the general, his followers will not simply accept defeat.

The only thing I'm rooting for is a Democrat to win. However, you and the Republicans are responsible for Trump and the fact that you let him get this far is indicative of a party that has been in bed with bigots for years in order to win elections and now you're crying because you've created a monster.

Trump doesn't even get the time of day in the Democratic primary.

The only thing I'm rooting for is a Democrat to win. However, you and the Republicans are responsible for Trump and the fact that you let him get this far is indicative of a party that has slept with bigots for years in order to win elections and now you're crying because you've created a monster.

Trump doesn't even get the time of day in the Democratic primary.

My energy for defending the Republican Party is not exactly at an all time high, and while I think there are a lot of factors to blame for the rise of Trump (the accommodation of the GOP establishment of Trump-like figures in the past, alternative conservative media (Fox/talk radio/Breibart) pumping him up/feeding people fact free 'news' that confirms their worldview, mainstream media amplifying Trump with outsized coverage, the selfishness of the individual candidates and campaigns putting themselves before the future of the things they purported to believe in, the power of celebrity in modern American culture, etc.), clearly the party is somewhat to blame. However even if Trump was 100% the fault of the actions of the Republican Party, that doesn't just let non Republicans off the hook from this point forward. He could become your president. Almost every primary that's been held so far has been open (anyone can vote) or allowed same day registration changes. A very good friend switched his registration in Massachusetts from Dem to undeclared to vote for Trump because he hopes it ruins the Republican Party. I think there are a bunch of Dems who are voting/rooting for that. I very much understand this line of thinking, but there's a real downside risk to that happening that I'm not sure people are fully pricing in. On the other hand I know there have been a lot of Democrats who are terrified by Trump, and realize he could win in November if there's a recession or terror attacks or Hillary gets indicted or whatever, and they're actively supporting Rubio or Kasich or whatever hoping to do their bit to deny Trump the nomination. I'm not saying one path is definitively right or wrong morally or strategically or whatever, but if you believe that his nomination will lead to a platform of vicious hate being legitimized that will last beyond the next election even if Hillary wins, why is that what you're rooting for?

It's hard to not get at least a little satisfaction from watching the Republican hate machine devour itself.

Blaming dems who are switching parties to vote Rep even a little bit is just ridiculous. Trump is killing the field pretty much everywhere. He's yours. Own him.

I'll admit I am rooting for Trump, and, perhaps for the reasons jh I outlined above, I shouldn't be. But, I'll say two things:

1. I am reasonably certain that even if Trump wins, he's actually full of it. The truth, I suppose, is that Trump is in that "Tyson Zone" that one of our posters named and which Bill Simmons gave fame. I'd believe almost anything at this point about from where Trump might attempt to govern. Will he govern from a hard, autocratic, populist (even fascist) right, as much of his campaign has implied? He might. I equally believe it is possible he'd do a 180 and be the relative leftist he's always been in terms of the populism, but drop the racist bravado entirely. Or just about anything in between. I believe any of this is possible because the final, irreduceable (sp?) truth is obvious: he has no actual ideas. He is a cipher, an empty suit. Thus, he is very likely to blow with the wind, in particular the one at his back, forever finding the path of least resistance - the one he has always tread.

2. Ted Cruz is genuinely more frightening to me than Donald Trump, because he appears to believe what he says. And Ben Carson just doesn't seem capable on any level of the office, even the performative aspect of it (that Trump has at least attempted to "master" - OK, I just died a little writing that). That leaves Kasich and Rubio. If Trump is everything he says he is, yes, I suppose they are "better" in that they are not monsters. But the truth is none of these guys - not Trump, not Cruz, not Rubio, not even Sanders or Clinton - are running for dictator: they are running for President. The most impactful thing any of them will do is make a SCOTUS appointment or three. Who frightens me the most in terms of picking SCOTUS justices? Cruz, Rubio, Kasich, and Trump - in that order. So I root for Trump.

Still don't think he'll win.

No matter which way you think Trump might govern, combining him with a Republican Congress would be disastrous.
