Gotta love when the anti socialists trot out this one. Nothing like using a logical fallacy verbatim as your point. The best part is that righties think they're so clever when they point out that most Euro countries are smaller(they're not that much less diverse btw...).

Indeed. But how does a big (or bigger) military stop or even deter threats in a world of asymmetric, terrorist threats? Of all terrorist attacks against America here or abroad in the last few decades can anyone think of one which would have been prevented by an even bigger military? 9/11? USS Cole? San Bernardino? Our embassy in Beirut? Benghazi?

most health policy people agree that his plan is unworkable, though. even seems to omit a lot of things that everyone in the field agrees on like having at least some token co-pay to lessen gratuitous visits

Maybe it doesn't keep terrorists away, but when's the last massive tiger attack or volcanic eruption in the US? Thank you, astronomical military budget, for keeping us safe.

Christie showed his true nature in being outed as a Cowboys fan. He's a front-runner bandwagon guy afraid of being on the losing side.

He abandoned the Giants for the Cowboys, and now he's gotta be on the Dumpf bandwagon.

Hard to believe, but he's actually more disgusting that Dumpf. Dumpf is truly an idiot who doesn't know any better; Crispy can't claim that same excuse.

Yep, health policy-wise, he doesn't have people minding the details. Weirdly, his estimate of potential savings from federal negotiation of Rx prices - the most glaring error in his health forecasts - is almost identical in magnitude to trumo's. Both have estimated the US can save almost as much on Rx spending as the TOTAL actually currently spent annually on Rx. Yikes.

Fortunately, he actually learns from missteps, and can revise from his existing scheme. I don't believe he's irrevocably committed to first-dollar coverage of all treatment bills, for example.

Trump, today on Today (NBC loves showing him over and over and over and over):
I'm sitting in a house in Florida with a very bad earpiece that they gave me, and you could hardly hear what he was saying. But what I heard was various groups, and I don't mind disavowing anybody, and I disavowed David Duke and I disavowed him the day before at a major news conference.

what he actually said to Tapper:

“Will you unequivocally condemn David Duke and say that you don't want his vote or that of other white supremacists in this election?” Tapper asked.
“Well, just so you understand, I don't know anything about David Duke, OK? I don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists," Trump responded. "So, I don't know. I don't know, did he endorse me or what's going on, because, you know, I know nothing about David Duke. I know nothing about white supremacists. And so you're asking me a question that I'm supposed to be talking about people that I know nothing about.”

And his huge condemnation of David Duke at that Christie presser:

"I didn't even know he endorsed me," Trump said in response to a question during his news conference to announce Chris Christie's endorsement. "David Duke endorsed me? OK, all right. I disavow. OK?"

The editorial/operational consequences of MSNBC's desperate scramble for anything resembling sustainable ratings should be the subject of some business school case study somewhere. Deplorable doesn't begin to describe it

That said, the good-old-boy brand of American fascism is probably better exemplified by Scarborough than by trumo

I like The Economist, I am sorry not to be subscribing to it right now (though truthfully, I don't have time to read it), but this statement is proof of how right-leaning the U.S. Is. The Economist Is "left-leaning" only in the context of this country, and only because they dismiss silly conservative social issues and because they recognize the truth - yes, the truth - that Healthcare is not, and should not be treated as, a business in the traditional sense. In their home country, and in most countries where they are published, they are center-right to right.

And their call for tolerance on illegal immigration is only "liberal" - if it is at all - in the classical sense. This is a magazine by and for captains of industry which loves loves loves anything that puts downward pressure on wages.

FWIW, The Economist has great content, but some godawful run-on sentences in the prose. Yeah, it's a lotta content to crank out in a week, but hire an editor.
