Meh. Cottonmouth doesn't necessarily mean nervous. I get it sometimes when I teach and have to talk a lot. I can assure you that addressing a bunch of undergraduates has long since failed to unnerve me.

It doesn't matter what it means. It's the perception. He can't get thru 5 minutes of a speech without constantly licking his lips. It's not exactly a stretch to say he's nervous when it in fact reinforces his label of the guy who had that water incident as well as his meltdown in the debate.

And he also looks 15 which doesn't help.

Rubio apparently says his dad's first English words were "I'm looking for a job." Well at least he just did. Ok buddy.

I loved the commercial they had for the new Purge movie during the debate. And the slogan for it was something like "Keep America Great."

I'll be really surprised. Guy from NYC with running mate from NJ? "Piss off, rest of America - us 2 white fast-talking NYC-area hoods will take it from here". Nah, not seeing it

He could hang with Clinton in a verbal sparring match.

he doesn't get that opportunity, in any known political universe

I was going to mention that they are both from the NE and the rest of america might not like that, but then I remembered most states aren't likely to vote any differently than usual. The battleground states are mostly in the east. Maybe it won't hurt as much as people think. Maybe it will even help. Trump and Christie are centrist by american standards on a lot of things. Maybe a few more people in those battleground states won't be turned off by the latest neocon from the right and they'll vote GOP.

Also, and this was the main reason I went with the post, Trump isn't likely to follow conventions, or at least he won't be bound to them. I could totally see him watching Christie take apart Rubio and think to himself, "That's the kind of guy I want to run with." I think I even said something about it right after the debate (or at least it was in my head)

Christie being on the ticket is probably the one thing that could inspire me to vote for Hillary. Although, the prospect of getting Christie out of NJ and into a role that's as toothless as the VP might make me actually vote Trump. Either way, Christie's involvement would likely keep me from writing in Sanders if he isn't the nominee.

Also, I thought this was pretty funny

that's incredible. See, that stuff sticks. Rubio should get out now and get some more experience before he has another gaff or three and he's labelled for life.

I'm no Republican and thought Rubio's gaffe was really creepy, but IMO he redeemed himself last night with the way he goaded and confronted Trump. I thought Trump's face was going to assplode.

If Rubio comes back and wins he'll be labelled the comeback kid, the tough son of immigrants who stood up to the bully and won america's hearts. I'd almost think it was orchestrated if not for the fact that I know Trump's ego would never agree to the humiliation.

All along I though it was Ted Cruz who was first in line to shred the Constitution...

"One of the things I'm going to do if I win... I'm going to open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money," Trump said during a rally in Fort Worth, Texas.

"We're going to open up those libel laws so when The New York Times writes a hit piece, which is a total disgrace, or when the Washington Post, which is there for other reasons, writes a hit piece, we can sue them and win money instead of having no chance of winning because they're totally protected," he said. "We're going to open up libel laws and we're going to have people sue you like you've never got sued before."

... I know, it was one of those pesky amendments. Trump does not like the first anyway with his stance on Muslims.

And if the Jewish press today believes that it can make veiled threats against the National Socialist movement, and if they believe that they can get around our defensive measures they shouldn't keep lying. Props to the Republicans for not bringing up all of Donald's history of probable sexual abuse of women. They really stick to hating people with vaginas.

Come to think of it, I haven't heard Trump hit Rubio about the robot/Christie thing. Has he done so? If not, just a few barbs from Trump will end the Rubmentum. Rubio has given opponents A LOT to work with.

Have you ever watched Rubio speak? Outside of the NH debate, can you recall him getting rattled and fucking up? I really do not understand this line of thinking.

The response to the SOTU and the Christie debate and articles I've read that make him sound like a weenie scared of his own shadow or at least bad under pressure. He probably isn't really a weenie, but he has shown signs of freezing up and being very noticeably nervous under the gun. That's a bad characteristic in a potential POTUS nominee.

Honestly, I can't think of another major presidential candidate that I've seen look so flustered on multiple occasions. And you know as well as I do that it only takes one major thing like that to end a campaign or even a career. I can't think of worse things to look like than a robot or someone who freezes under pressure. Opponents can beat him over the head with that if they're inclined. At this point, he's not enough of a threat to risk the backlash for GOP establishment or voters, but if he really starts to make a move, Trump or someone else will go after those obvious faults. Signs of weakness is a terminal disease for a POTUS candidate, especially one on the right.

and so it begins. It's too late for Rubio. Trump's going for the throat.

I applaud you for calling them out, doc. The anti-PCers in this country really are turning us into a nation of entitled morons. We're talking about the type of people who demonize an entire religion then get upset when people call them racist because their opinion is valid, too. Idiots who go on and on about how government is bad, but they support the guy who would surely be the most authoritarian out of all the candidates. These ignorant fools need to be called ignorant or else this mindset will only continue to spread.

Three ads there hitting him on Trump University going up from an outside conservative group. The money floodgates are finally opening. It's amazing this didn't start months ago, and to the eternal shame of The Establishment and anyone else in a position to do something if this ends up being too late. But let us not give up hope.

Sounds like they're just trying to smear a businessman who wants to make money and help people. Tsk tsk
