Bernie's campaign is suing the DNC because of the crazy bullshit with voter data. I'm not a fan of Trump, but the fact that the two biggest anti-establishment candidates who have both sworn to fight money in politics are getting railroaded as much as possible by their respective committees is absolutely gross.

They copied some of Clinton's info. That's the problem. Obviously Bernie didn't do it but they need to show they deleted it then they'll be fine.

Except they didn't. There's no evidence to suggest they did. The staffer logged on several times because he realized their own data was exposed. The system doesn't even allow copying. You'd have to screenshot each individual voter's data.

I don't think they should be cut off, though.

Imagine if Clinton's campaign did this, though

This is not terribly surprising or anything but I thought it interesting re: the data breach -

"Stu Trevelyan, chief executive officer of DNC software vendor NGP VAN, acknowledged the breach in a statement and called it a "brief isolated issue" that was fixed and is now being reviewed.

According to his LinkedIn account, Trevelyan is a former campaign and White House staffer for Hillary Clinton's husband, former President Bill Clinton. He also donated $403.20 to Ready PAC - an outside group then known as Ready for Hillary PAC that supports Clinton - in December 2013, according to records filed with the Federal Election Commission."

I am not much of a conspiracy theorist but wouldn't it be something if this guy purposely dropped the firewall so that Clinton's campaign could get access to Sanders' voter data and Sanders' guy actually caught them?

My theory is that the firewall was intentionally dropped - and the Clinton team arranged it, knowing that the Sanders team would breach it and then get caught.

I'm curious about the specific use of the term "firewall". A firewall is a network "block" that prohibits network/protocol access between different systems. Even if they somehow did separate the data onto different systems, there still must be user credentialing on each system. So access should also have been prohibited that way.

Unless, of course, someone was just being lazy when they decided to use the term.

There should be a law, violation of which would be punishable by being forced to listen to politicians talk "authoritatively" about information technology forever, that any politician or politician's toady who utters a peep about information technology is subject to incarceration and the aforesaid summary punishment.

Someone help me with why candidates' presumably 'proprietary' data is somehow pooled at/by DNC HQ in the first place? I'm not clear on that and too lazy to try to figure out if the breathless "news coverage" gets at that
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

I love that Sanders is now the victim and Clinton the perp. Amazing.

She used a Jedi mind trick to make people on the Sanders campaign access and save the info on their own lists.

I kinda wish HRC was prez after dubya's first term. I mean, a 12-yrs-younger-than-now Bill in the White House with nothing to do... would've been epic.

UN is formally for a peaceful end to the Syrian civil war
On paper, the resolution is striking for its ambition. It places the political process to decide Mr. Assad’s future under United Nations auspices, making it far harder for Mr. Assad to control the vote, and specifically requires that all Syrians, “including members of the diaspora,” be allowed to participate in the vote. That language was created in Vienna in November by Mr. Kerry, who is betting that if Syrians around the world can participate in the vote, Mr. Assad will not be able to win.
