Well, not really--the establishment isn't that fond of him. Sold his soul I think to make money off his flock.

Love seeing charts like this. The mountainous states have perfected road services for winter weather, but the rest of the states are too cheap to pay for it. Poor as states like Wyoming and Nevada pay top dollar for road weather stuff like detailed forecasts, extensive road weather sensor networks, etc... It costs a whole ~5MM of initial investment to install such systems and about 500K/year to maintain.
Too inefficient, I guess...

Since he's pretty much the most loathsome type of republican around I'm going to bust out my sweater vest today
He was entertaining and legitimately funny at times. Really, you can see his preacher background: very comfortable in front of an audience, certainly more than Santorum was.
I liked several of his ideas, but the bottom line for me is that I want someone who will give the finger to the Republican establishment and try to affect change as opposed to the go along to get along shit we've had forever.
As I've noted before, he's really a weird and interesting guy. As governor, he was effective and pragmatic, and did lots of progressive things including pushing unsuccessfully for a state version of the dream act, and protesting quite loudly at an INS raid that resulted in a bunch of children not knowing that there parents had been picked up by immigration. There was also ARK Kids, a Medicaid expansion act. When necessary, he also pushed for tax increases to keep the state budget intact.
But his subsequent national career reveals a very different, rather nasty guy. There was always that side of him, but during his tenure as governor he mostly kept it in check.
And, yeah, in person, he's very likable, and at ease, even with audiences that aren't automatically receptive.
