School board member compensation? What kind of BS is that?
With a firm reliance upon the providence of Almighty God WE the BLOUNT COUNTY LEGISLATURE call upon all of the Officers of the State of Tennessee, the Governor, the Attorney General, and the members of the Tennessee Legislature, to join US, and utilize all authority within their power to protect Natural Marriage, from lawless court opinions. AND THE financial schemes of the enemies of righteousness wherever the source AND defend the Moral Standards of Tennessee.
WE adopt this Resolution before God that He pass us by in His Coming Wrath and not destroy our County as He did Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring cities. As the Passover Lamb was a means of salvation was a means of salvation to the ancient Children of Israel, so we stand upon the safety of the Lamb of God to save us.
WE adopt this Resolution begging His favor in light of the fact that we have been forced to comply and recognize that the State of Tennessee, like so many other God-fearing States, MAY have fallen prey to a lawless judiciary in legalizing what God and the Bible expressly forbids.

well you do have to recognize that she was doing her job under the Obama administration. (which includes supporting such deal and negotiating on behalf of what the President wants) I have no qualms with the "flip flop"

Houshphandzadeh wrote:the charity exemption is so fucked
rich couple buys some Jeff Koons pos statue for 10 million. has their crooked appraiser value it at 15 million. lends it to the museum for 5 years, writes 15 million off their taxes. gets it back, waits five years, then promises it to the museum upon their death, 15 million more written off (or probably even more after having it re-appraised)
Werthless wrote:If the charity exemption was eliminated, it would be charities that would be complaining, not necessarily rich people.
Werthless wrote:Edit: If the charity exemption is being used to make money, it should be rewritten. If it's just being used to reduce the tax burden of the donor (eg. donate $10k and reduce your tax bill by $2,500), then it's not being "abused." It's weird to argue that X law should be discarded since some people could abuse it. That's a very weak argument usually put forth by Republicans. "There could be abuse, so let's just toss out the law entirely." It's a bit of a non-sequitur, IMO.
