Michael Beasley measured at 6-7 without shoes, and 6-8 ¼ with. His wingspan in 7-0 ¼ and his standing reach is 8-11. He did fairly well in the combine, lifting the 185 bar 19 times, jumping 35 inches on the max vert, but measuring a slightly high body fat at 7.7%

35 is pretty low for a running start I'd think.

If you stand flat-footed and reach as high as possible, what's the measurement from the ground to the tip of your finger? Subtract that from however far up you touched, and there's your vertical jump measurement

I can touch an 8' ceiling while flat-footed, but I haven't tried dunking lately, which means my vertical jump is probably like 16"

good info biged, but I'd prefer to do a running start. same formula though? I'll give them both a shot tomorrow. it was a very haphazard attempt and the measurements weren't exact. I stopped at our shop today, had a quick minute where this popped into my head, and just went for it.

If you do it from a running start, you're not doing it right. It's like using claiming a 30 yd dash time for a 40 yd dash.
