immoral thing: used to steal textbooks in college and take em right to the resale guy for beer money
that's probably not "most," but I still feel pretty shitty about it
I am giving you permission to not feel bad about this. What is immoral is charging 100,000 to go to a university then charging a person 500% more than what you bought the text book for. Fuck that shit. Housh, you did the world a favor, pal.

I don't want housh to feel bad either, but school stores don't really mark up textbooks very much, they come from the publisher at high prices and very limited discounts, since they know they have a captive market. I guess you could maybe say the mark up is high when they repurchase textbooks and sell them as used.

really depends. the b&n college bstores get a 30-32% discount, then mark them all the way back up to the real price plus more.
if you're not renting like soren, amazon is always the best way to go

That's higher than when i worked in that end of the business, but you won't find anything out there in retail with only a 30% markup besides gasoline. It wouldn't be worth selling it. There are virtually always better avenues than the school store for textbooks, though, true.
