"I didn't realise that you wrote poetry / I didn't realise you wrote such bloody awful poetry"

is perhaps the funniest line in all of pop music

for such a good lyricist he was an amazing comic

from same song: "But sometimes I'd feel more fulfilled, Making Christmas cards with the mentally ill, I want to live and I want to Love, I want to catch something that I might be ashamed of"

best pop band ever

Moz is definitely the funniest non-rapping lyricist I've heard

I connected speakers to my FIOS cable box, which is connected to my HDTV. Works and sounds good, but I can only adjust volume manually on the speaker unit, not with my TV or FIOS remote. Even though the TV volume is set to variable.

Is that normal? Do I need a receiver or something to adjust the volume with a remote?

What's the make and model for your speakers/speaker unit? Generally you would have a receiver that is powering the speakers and kind of controlling everything volume-wise. Like you should have the FiOS box connected to an HDMI input on the receiver, and the HDMI output on the receiver connected to an HDMI input on the TV. You can set the receiver to send video only to the TV and then the audio gets sent to the speakers with regular speaker wire. Then you just need a universal remote that controls the FiOS box, the receiver, and the TV. Onkyo makes decent, reasonably priced receivers.

The story of the NYC cop that bought boots for a barefoot homeless man is wonderful.

Thanks mick. It's Cambridge Soundworks, subwoofer with two little speakers like this http://store.cambridgesoundworks.com/dp/B0031TN3JC

I connected the speakers to the FIOS box with an RCA cable. And the TV is connected to the box with an HDMI.

If I need a receiver, I'll probably just sell this speaker set and get a better sounding TV. It's all kind of cluttered looking anyway.

Don't think you'd be able to control volume with a remote without adding a receiver. Unless you find a "sweet spot" on the manual controls and then can see if adjusting the volume on the FiOS box works.

But hey if that's an excuse to buy a new TV I'd call that a win!
