Just cash in pocket/wallet? What about money/gold/silver burried in survival caches in my back yard (or will that only count when unearthed a little over a month from now)?

I've had $37k in casino chips once. You can't cash it in all at once though. Less than $10k every 24 hours or you have to fill out a bunch of paperwork for the government (as you do with any cash transaction over $10k). I lost about $12k of it after that and ended up with around $25k when I cashed out.

On a related note, I was cleaning out my car and found $800 in casino chips from Valley Forge Casino in my glove compartment. Probably been there for two months.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

To reach 37K what was your stake you started with?

And what size bets were you placing?

However, Follet often claims that they can't get used copies of an earlier edition so I am prevented from using it, even though there are tons of old editions out there, often for a buck or two plus shipping.

My favorite publisher from a value perspective is Hackett. But they only publish in the humanities.

just out of curiosity, what are some of the titles you use?

McGraw Hill is like FOollett, theyre not going to spend money chasing down old editions, unfortunately, and not make anything off it.

Can't you just require the book, then let your students get the older/used one online? That's what happens a lot anyway

Edit: N/m, i guess its hard to communicate that to the student before the class starts

I use a bunch of titles from CQ Press--I know another publisher owns them, but I'm not sure which one. Keeping the Republic brief edition is one, and Essentials of Political Science Research and Companion to SPSS. As far as using older editions--the problem is the university essentially requires that we go through the bookstore in placing our book orders, even though students can go anywhere. Ironically, the state passed a law that requires me to submit my book to the bookstore orders several months before classes start, so that students can have that information available--there's no practical way to just do things on my own even if it could save students money. Also, in practice, the university and the bookstore do not make the information easily available to students--they can find it, but they have to know it's there and they have to know where to look.

Don't remember, but probably started with $3k or so. The size of your bets depend on how much you have. At first, $100 or so; at that point, probably never more than $300 and never less than $50 (may have been a $100 min table). After you start winning, your bets go up. Base bet of $300, adjusted for count upwards or downwards. Generally can't stomach betting more than $1k on a hand under any circumstances. Probably have only done that a few times, but with you always end up with splits and doubles than turn $500 bets into $2k bets.
