Rick Scott probably has probably arranged things so he signs off on the legitimacy of every ballot

also, those were different districts thant hey are now

If PA-06, 07 and 16 weren't a jumbled mess, Democrats would regularly win another in the Philly suburbs, while the remaining two districts would be a lot safer for Republicans. All five of the Republican held districts in the southeastern part of the state, as drawn, are competitive for Democrats in a decent year with good candidates (especially if one of the Republicans were to retire). But they should favor Republican incumbents in nonwave years, which is a huge built in advantage. Redistricting/gerrymandering absolutely gives Republicans more seats from PA than they would otherwise have won this time around, but the point I'm trying to get at is because of the geographic concentration of Democratic strength in the state, the GOP would overperform its statewide vote share in seats even if the lines were drawn without regard for partisan politics. I think PBP's guestimate of 11-7 is probably fair.

Rachel Maddow doesn't pretend to be anything but a liberal who roots for Democrats. She is however fair and will criticize Democrats if she disagrees with them, which she has done with Obama on occasion.

i understand that. that's fine. liberals who root for democrats in my opinion should not have their own news shows. same with republicans too. just my opinion

Then go watch C-SPAN.

I don't know that I'd say she "roots" for Democrats, necessarily. She wouldn't bang the drum for a moron candidate just because he/she was a Democrat, the way Hannity would a Republican

Cares at least a little more about being right, a little less about winning

This I agree with. Perhaps "roots" isn't quite accurate.

Have you guys ever watched Fox News or listened to conservative talk radio and heard them talk about moderate Republicans?

Well, I'm splitting hairs a bit, because she thinks liberals are right, on balance, and therefore would like them in office. But it's not the sports-fan, at-all-costs type rooting you see from the other side imo

And I don't mean that as a pejorative toward the other side

Oh, they certainly will rip a Republican going against another Republican, or holding up right-wing legislation. But Hannity and Rush would vociferously cheerlead for a complete moron facing a competent Democrat. I can't really see Maddow doing that.

Honestly, even though it would impact me personally in almost no way, if Obama does anything to follow through on his endorsement of gay marriage I'll need to take a day off work. I can't believe how quickly this has all happened.

moderate republicans are now independents. the idea of a moderate republican is a myth as this point.

Right. Instead of ripping their party member for saying something stupid, they rip them when they deviate from the party platform.

Really great article in NYT by Kristof, on the failings of the GOP. Bottom line, just not enough angry white guys to carry the party.

Honks me off.
