I thought he defended his record much better than he has previously, or than Biden did. Maybe that's too low a bar. The problem he has obviously is that if you're too celebratory while people are still hurting, it comes off as insensitive at best and delusional at worst.
On some level I wish he had a better defined second term agenda. But I don't remember Bush doing that in 2004--Social Security privatization was only aired after he won, which might have had something to do with his winning--and given that Republicans will oppose everything he proposes anyway, even if they otherwise support it, I'm not all that perturbed about it.
From what I remember, Bush lost all 3 debates without even mentioning SS privatization, then tried to used his political capital to privatize it.
