this tweet cracked me up today:

AntDeRosa
"If you want a President who'll make things better in African American community you are looking at him." followed by laughs, boos at Romney
no offense but you are everything that's wrong with America

It's hard to speak in front of a partisan audience that's against you, but his speech today was one of his better ones.

The key for Romney, and for VP picks in general, is to do no harm. Thus, I don't think Romney will pick Christie, as he's apt to say something that will alienate lots of voters. It's sort of a Palin pick--initial excitement and enthusiasm, followed by a long period of regret. Jindal makes a lot of sense, but I'm not sure a governor of Louisiana, even one who's a reformer and has nothing to do with the corruption of his state is a great asset. Also, I wonder what the impact of a Mormon/Catholic ticket will be on evangelicals. (And I think for Romney to win Florida and Ohio, he's going to need some enthusiasm them.) Huckabee intrigues, because he can bring home evangelicals without alienating moderate swing voters. But lots of other people in the R coalition hate him, and he probably doesn't want to run for Veep anyway and he's sort of a lightweight version of Christie both literally and in terms of tending to say things he shouldn't with the microphone on.

Pawlenty is a nice safe choice who is an evangelical. So that's who I'd pick. But I'm probably wrong about all of this. So it probably will be Christie.

speaking of boring shit, it'll be Portman

the rest are less boring

Would love, love, love Mitt to goof & name Ryan, or Jindal, or Rubio, or Ayotte, or Christie

but he won't

Doubt it'll be Pawlenty, that telecom graft thing will be a liability. Agnew II potential.

If I were to guess, based on who's supposedly on his short list, I'd guess either Paul Ryan or Nikki Haley.

Would laff if it's Rand Paul cuz then you'd have a ticket of Mitt & Rand, which kinda sounds like a juggling/magic act at a traveling carnival. Or one of those puppet shows where they bop each other with blackjacks.

Romney is winning this thing. I just don't think Obama can be exciting anymore, and Americans trust chain emails as their #1 news source.

The article could make a compelling case that Romney was responsible for the black plague, the Holocaust and global warming for all I care.

I think it's hilarious that the Dems twitter feed chose that excerpt to pitch the article.

Obama has spent the last 3+ years blaming George Bush, Republicans, Congress, Europe, the Japanese earthquake, Wall Street and Big Foot for the struggles of the US economy. He has been President of the United States for the past 3+ years.

Well let's see here.

First term presidents generally can't effect economy too much outside of a war.

Bush took the country from a surplus into two decade long wars. Bad for economy.

Republican congress was obstructionist to the point that they refused to raise the debt ceiling. Potentially crippling for the economy.

Europe was on the verge of creating the biggest financial crisis this side of the great depression.

Natural disaster completely disrupting the infrastructure of one of our biggest trade partners. That's probably bad for our economy.

All seem pretty reasonable to me.

Mitt Romney wants to run the US. He can't say whether or not he was running the company that made his fortune for a 3 year period. He is too dumb?
