my cousin just had something similar happen to her, complicated with the fact that her deadbeat boyfriend was hitting her. her brother beat the shit out of him, though.

My wife's cousin's seven-year-old son has been having intermittent seizures for about five years. Like, really bad seizures - he becomes unresponsive, stops breathing, bowels and bladder cut loose, the works, resulting in hospitalization each time. Doctors have not really had any idea what has been causing it, and have tried to control it with epilepsy medication to no real avail.

Finally after his most recent episode, he had an MRI and an EEG and some crack neurologist takes one look at the results and says he has Rasmussen's encephalitis. Holy shit. Unless some miracle therapy comes along really soon, it looks like he's going to have to have half his brain removed.

partial paralysis on one side of your body, some loss in motor function, and mild retardation. surprisingly, you can live a somewhat normal life, especially if done at a young age.

Hey Barry Jive. Was Muggs still playing the Sax in State College when you were there? He's even older than me but I don't think he ever left town.

i don't know no Muggs. where did he play?

Bars all over State College. Real name was Tommy Gallagher when I knew him growing up and I always called him TG. But everyone in State College called him Muggs. He was in a bunch of different bands. Last I heard he was still in town. I somehow stumbled across him on Facebook; his page wasn't detailed but I got the impression he still lived in SC. And he was still in some band. Thought there might be a 5 percent chance or so he was still playing in town.

Very talented guy.

Musicians never really get old so thought you might have crossed paths at some point.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

As horrible as the hemispherectomy sounds, it's got to be a huge relief for the parents to at least have a diagnosis, and one with a non-lethal prognosis and some chance at normal life. Previously, they were looking at a strong possibility that the seizures would continue to worsen and if they didn't kill the kid outright they would render him effectively catatonic in the long run.

I don't recall the name but he seems like the kind of guy who'd be in the rotating cast of Phyrst musicians. a lot of the guys who play in bands there are in about five bands apiece, so they all know each other well
