For SK.

I'll probably repost in the new random thoughts thread.

Star Wars TIE Fighter - $150 (Olympia)

Have the coolest toy in your neighborhood! Approximately 1/3 scale TIE Fighter. 8x8x8 feet but breaks down into 5 pieces for easy transport in a pickup or can haul partially assembled (except for the top half of the wings) on a trailer. Wheeled casters make it easy to move once assembled. Laser cannons are set to fire standard party poppers. Well built out of 3/4 plywood with the wings sheeted in cardboard. Tested to hold over 300 pounds. Cockpit is 38 inches by 38 inches and my 5ft tall son comfortably sits inside. $150 or best offer 360-791-1843 *SOLD* 3/21

I've had hundreds of calls, texts and e-mails. For those of you that asked: I built it for our Church's AWANA annual Drive-Inn movie night. It is a father/child project where the younger kids take cardboard and build a "car" to sit in and eat popcorn and watch a movie. We kind-of go over the top every year. We built an X-Wing 2 years ago so we needed a Tie Fighter. I didn't have plans, just a sketch pad and ideas in my head. I used this to teach my 9th grader how to use the Pythagorean Theorem and get some practical application to algebra as helped build this for his younger siblings. All the edges to the body panels are 22.5 degrees. The main panels are 16x24, the front and rear panels off those are 16x12, all ¾ birch plywood. The wing struts are boxed 8 inches wide, ¾ plywood, 30 inches long. They are attached with Simpson 90 degree gussets and re-enforced with 2x2s. The lower half of the wings are 2x4 sheeted in cardboard. The upper half are 1x2 sheeted in cardboard. The wing to strut connection is a compression fitting design. If you want more detailed photos to build your own I'll e-mail them.

They moved the Salad Bar and Asian Bar at Wegmans in Malvern to make room for a beautiful display of Victory 6 packs.

I wanted to start drinking at 8am this morning.

My one friend who moved to Seattle who is a totally gross Philadelphia fat ass claims that Tat's is the best place for a cheesesteak.

I've also noticed in other places around the country that some people call random sandwiches "Philly style" which means putting cheese and fried peppers and onions on it. I've seen "Philly burgers" like that. That's bunk.

This place actually looks legit. Might have to try it out.

It's in Olympia though. It would be kinda cool to strap this to the roof of our car and drive up I 5 with it. There's a dump in Fife -- I could drop it off there and rid the world of this mess.

I don't get this part. What does this have to do with baseball team records derived from runs scored and allowed?
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

Some woman at work wants to know if she can get pet insurance for her 13 year old dog. For "peace of mind." Do I inform her that she is a moron?

13 year old dogs have close to 100% chance of getting sick in the near future. That's why she wants insurance now. She knows it is inevitable. People think they are getting actual health insurance with these policies but the fine print generally excludes most of what people would want covered or the premiums end up costing a lot more than the coverage they are willing to provide. These companies would go out of business if they provided the service this woman thinks she will get. Someone will give her a policy but only if the craft a policy that will maximize the likelihood that she will pay them more than they will pay her, which is the opposite of what she wants.

Because unless the dog is supporting the family by working two jobs and she'll need the money, I'm not sure what the hell "piece of mind" is. A dead dog is a dead dog.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

say, some NYTimes wiseguy writes that the younger set just isn't that into cars anymore:

As Young Lose Interest In Cars, GM Turns to MTV for Help
Ross Martin, 37, is a published poet and a former drummer in an alternative rock band. Wearing Nike high tops and loosefitting jeans, he is the kind of figure who wouldn’t attract a second glance on the streets of Brooklyn, where he lives....He and his team are trying to help General Motors solve one of the most vexing problems facing the car industry: many young consumers today just do not care that much about cars.

About damn time they wised up, sez I. Cars are a total fucking waste of money, time, and time.

Of course this martin guy you'd probably want to punch in the nuts

used to love my car and trying to make it 'cool.' now i have other things to worry about.

not really sure why the car culture died off so fast in young kids. none of the younger people i know really care. when i was 16 it was the coolest thing to drive down main street newark and do a few laps.

Pretty psyched that one of the hottest chicks in the grade ahead of me when I was in HS (yes, she has two kids now, but still mom-hot) was able to guess Weezer by their logo and a guy in horn rims with a blue sweater and a guy holding a thread. This isn't nearly as neat now that I see it typed out. Anyway.

She is worried about a decision to pay for some big expensive procedure. She thinks if she gets insurance she won't have to make a difficult choice of paying lots of money or not because insurance will pay for it.
