Gingrich's people are more natural fits for Santorum. Paul's people aren't really natural fits to anyone.

I cant imagine anyone more inimical to Paul's belief system than Santorum: he's for more wars, intrusion into people's sex lives, and industrial policy. Dunno if Paul himself would go 3p against him, but I think someone would.

OTOH, he seems to personally like Romney. God knows why.

Can't say there's a causal link, but it doesn't look like being opposed to sex for fun is working for Santorum.

Romney is nice to him. There probably aren't too many politicians who are nice to Ron Paul.

Yes, and I've never understood exactly how that works with the rest of his worldview.

Yes, and I've never understood exactly how that works with the rest of his worldview.

After performing abortions and monitoring other growing fetuses, I guess he decided that life starts earlier than 28 weeks, and that it is life worth protecting. That's one of the few issues he's altered positions on.

But isn't using state power to force your own opinion on others when there's reasonable doubt (e.g. "murder is wrong" clears the bar) inimical to the whole libertarian thing?

My post when we had this discussion last month:

Libertarians aren't anarchists. They believe in laws to protect people's right to life, liberty and property. If you think a fetus is a human life/potential life worthy of protection, making a law abridging someone's liberty to kill it squares with being a libertarian. More libertarians are probably pro choice than not, but being a pro life libertarian isn't an oxymoron.

even jersey has his reservations about santorum, whom romney is having tremendous difficulty putting away despite having much greater political capital and resources. wonder how he would've fared if faced with a more palatable (to the GOP base) group of challengers

Franklin Graham, on the teevee to defend Santorum's theological remarks, essentially says Santorum may not be a Christian, because he hasn't engaged in some ritual of explicit acceptance of Christ, as he - Graham - says he himself did at age 22. Of course he was talking about why he - Graham - couldn't know for sure whether Obama is a Christian, because he'd have to ask him.

I'm not sure many Catholics would go along with Graham's view of the matter

Lugar Defends Himself On Residency Question

Sen. Richard Lugar defended himself during an appearance in Indianapolis on Monday that came days after opponents claimed that he isn't qualified to run for office because he doesn't live in the state.

Lugar said two attorneys general have affirmed his position that the Indianapolis address on his Indiana driver's license is valid, even though he sold that home in 1977.

Lugar said he and his wife sold their house in Indianapolis because the only way they could afford to keep the family together and be part of their sons' school and after-school activities was to move to Washington, D.C. full time and buy a home there.
...

Lugar also owns a farmhouse where his son lives, but he said he will not take that as his official residence because it wouldn't be accurate.

Lugar said he isn't sure what address is on his Indiana driver's license but presumes it was from the house he no longer owns.

The address on his license is of a home he sold THIRTY FIVE YEARS AGO.
