That would be a very real possibility. Used to run into this on Unix boxes from time to time when the NTP client (which syncs the local system clock with a centralized source) stopped working for whatever reason.

I ended up paging through my entire inbox manually and found an archived Google Buzz conversation message dated 2/13/2010 that inexplicably became marked as unread. Using the "select all" button and then clicking "mark as read" didn't help.

select all only selects however many messages you display per page. I'm assuming you searched is:unread though?

Nope, I wasn't even aware that was a thing you could do. May come in handy in the future so thank you very much for the tip. I found the offending message by manually paging through my inbox... fun times.

I'm glad there's no miniature band singing that godawful "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" song every time I pass up a cigarette. Pretty sure I would have started smoking again by now.

Holy fuck I'm hungover. Holiday party kicked my ass. We started drinking in the office at 3, then a party bus took us around for awhile (we skipped the ice skating) then we had dinner at this place Sammy's, a Roumanian steak house which basically turns into a Bar Mitzvah. Then we went to some Bulgarian Gypsy Disco bar that has an ice cave in the basement where for $20 you get to go in and take as many shots of vodka as you can in 5 minutes while wearing Russian army hats and jackets. And somehow I made it in to work today by 11.
