My work Christmas party is tonight. A party bus is picking us up at 3 and that's all I know. Although I heard we might be going drunken ice skating at some point which would be a terrible idea.

Wow, one week ago one of the members from my former congregation died. I know you are not supposed to speak ill of the dead, but the obituary is interesting- it speaks of him as having a "happy and positive outlook on life", and that he was "an inspiration to many."

The dude was a surly guy who fought with me about changing worship times, wouldn't come to church when he disagreed with things, always complained about my sermons because I actually talked about current events and tried to link scripture themes with ideas that could be applied to everyday life. The week the Virginia Tech shooting happened, I preached on not understanding the world's brokenness in light of that event, and he complained that "he heard about it all week, he didn't wan to hear about it in church." He pretty much hated me.

The last conversation I had with him was one of my last Sundays, when he turned to me and said, "I want to thank you for having the good sense to get out of here before you bankrupted the church. When we voted for you, I voted no!" That was the last thing he ever said to me.

Stanley's is almost always either destination #1 or 1a whenever I'm home. That and CBP.

Truth. I'm willing to bet no one ever told Hitler the Holocaust was a terrible idea.

It's not nearly as cool as Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.

Why is gmail telling me there is one unread message in my inbox when there are no unread messages in my inbox?!!?? :x

Could be something messed up with the header causing it to display an incorrect date so Google is burying it in your inbox?

That would be a very real possibility. Used to run into this on Unix boxes from time to time when the NTP client (which syncs the local system clock with a centralized source) stopped working for whatever reason.

I ended up paging through my entire inbox manually and found an archived Google Buzz conversation message dated 2/13/2010 that inexplicably became marked as unread. Using the "select all" button and then clicking "mark as read" didn't help.
