BUT BREATHING IN FUCKING SULPHUR DAILY IN THE MOST POLLUTED PART OF THE WORLD is really doing the damage here.

I dunno, I think each of those three factors (probably could throw in an elevated rate of suicide too) has a significant effect on the folks there having short life spans. The shitty environment is probably the most important of the three, but I wouldn't sleep on the negative effects drinking a liter of vodka a day can have on your long term health.

combat was so terrible in Fallout 3 it really killed it for me

It's true although it's been a while since I had a liter of bourbon in a day. I probably managed it once or twice in college.

Those Russians don't fuck around though with the vodka.
