wanna spend ~35k. want: good mpg, good in snow. thinking suv but not married to it.

if you have the time, shop around a bit. i got a 2009 S40 volvo with 4WD that was the dealer's courtesy car (had 4k on it over its first 10 months) for 26k, which included the extended used car power warranty (6yr/125k miles). not that you need to buy a volvo, but you can find a real nice car for a solid price these days.

as someone else mentioned, i love the 2009-2012 ford escapes. the hybrids aren't worth the premium in price or time it would take to actually get it (I think I calc'd that it would take like 7 or 8 years to get back the difference in price based on the mpg increase).

Does Mötley Crüe count? Heard "Girls, Girls, Girls" at a bar the other night and it went over pretty well

CO is colorless and odorless, so you'd never know if you had it or not. They'll come down with a CO meter and check things out. No biggie.

I went upstairs and borrowed their detector so have two in my apartment now. Neither are beeping.

I mean, the thing was chirping like 5 days ago. And I took out the battery then and didn't die in the interim. I finally bought a new battery this afternoon and it freaked out for a while when I put it in, but its now calm. I put one in the room with the heater for a while figuring if I was having a carbon monoxide problem, it'd be worst in there and nothing happened.

I think I'll opt for a different place than Maggiano's then.

STI! More fun to drive than any car you'll find priced around 35k. Excellent in snow. Mpg (17/23) isn't too great, though.

i'm kinda liking the lexus ct200 hybrid. some angles i really like it, some it's too hatchbacky. 42mpg, and a lexus front wheel drive would be good enough compared to my old ranger rear wheel drive in the snow

can you get it soon, though? i remember my brother looking at a lexus hybrid a year or so ago and the waitlist was insanely long cause all them rich folks can't afford a car that doesn't efficiently use gas.
