Found this out the hard way recently too. The only reason we still have that account is for depositing the odd check - all of our other banking is through ING.

Do they charge for having no money or having no activity? I have a couple accounts that I keep like 5 dollars in so they don't get autoclosed for having a 0 balance.

On their basic checking accounts, they hit you with a $5 fee in any month where you don't have at least 5 transactions, and they charge $30 annually for "overdraft protection" no matter how much money is in the account.

I bet yes. But rural areas may lose home delivery, or get delivery once a week, and urban areas may get deliveries 2 or 3 times a week. Does UPS or Fed Ex charge more for home deliveries in rural areas?

Wait--I just found out they do! $2 a package! And my home is considered rural! But I also have an address I work I could use and that zip code is not included! So, from now on, shit that doesn't have free shipping is coming to my work address.

But UPS and FedEx do use zipcodes, so if the postal service stops maintaining them they'd probably miss that.
