i heard stories about katz, but if you ever get up to around the montgomeryville mall area, i recommend pumpernicks. they make some fine pastrami sandwiches.

I ate about 2 hours ago, and that menu made me hungry already.

I thought Katz was overrated for the price. It was a good sandwich, but nothing earth-shattering.

Pastrami is easily my favorite lunch meat. Gotta have spicy mustard with it, too.

i'm down with summer sausage... but i would absolutely die if i could find the hot pickled bologna out here. i forget the brand or the technical name for them, but i do remember at a few bars they would call them donkey dicks. and i really don't think they sell them anywhere outside of eastern pa.

It might be better this way though--you avoid the awkward "greeting the in-laws upon arrival" period. They'll be in their groove when you get there, and they might just leave you alone. Is your mother (or father)-in-law the type to help with the cooking? Then you just great them and park yourself in front of the TV. I sure hope at least one of them is a Phils phan though.

maybe i'm just messed up... granted i've never been married, but i've never had any problems with "in-laws" in my relationships. when i break up with some chick, i'm usually way more upset that i don't get to see her family again. one of the reasons i stuck out this one relationship as long as i did was because her brother, pretty much became the little brother i never had and the big brother he never had. if the stupid bitch wasn't psycho, i would love to hang out with him again.

Happy Hour

Problem with that is I'd have to hide my buzz, whereas when I greet them at the house, I'm usually holding a pint.

And no, TV, he's a Yankees fan.

It totally changes, believe me. First off, no matter how great your girl is, she's hiding some mommy/daddy issues that aren't evident until after you're married, and the in laws suddenly think that since you're in their family you should not be deprived of their bullshit.

YMMV, of course, but I'd prepare for the worst.

And while your spouse may badmouth her family from here to the ends of the earth, even simply agreeing with her about her family can be a real minefield.

Good on her. Took my wife five years to do that, to terrific results. In fact, I should stop whining about tonight, they've gone from being here full weekends several times a year to coming for one night a few times a year.

I've got no issue with my mother-in-law or father-in-law at all. When I was in that wedding a few weeks ago, we stayed at their house. I woke up Saturday morning with a horrible hangover and spet the whole morning puking my guts out and trying to sleep it off. While I was doign that, my mother-in-law made home made chicken soup, to settle my stomach, and re-pressed my rented tux. I hit the in-law jackpot.
