I'd say 2 nights/3 days would be the limit before ennui sets in.

TenuredVulture wrote:A post labor day weekend on the Jersey Shore can be rather nice--the weather is generally very good, the water will still be warm, and the crowds are gone (and prices are lower). Some things will be closed down, but you might want to check to see if the stuff you're interested in is still available.

+1
Busch Gardens is awesome for parents and kids. Colonial Williamsburg is great for a few hours but then your kids will probably start pouting if they're anything like me and my brothers

I found with strawberries, wash them when you get home by filling a bowl with cool water, soak them for a few minutes, then dry them on a towel. Remove the stems. Put them in a sealed container (I use those tall ziploc ones). They will easily last a week or more, as long as they weren't soft to begin with.
really a week or more? my standards are obviously low, because it would be amazing just to be able to get 4 days. i don't think i have had any produce that has lasted a week or more. heck, i can buy that bagged lettuce and the expiration date could be 9/10 and even WITHOUT opening it, it will go bad by the 7th.

Split Rock.
We went there a couple of years ago.

We live ~2 hours from any family and she never wants to hire a babysitter or ask someone we know down here to watch him for a few hours, so we pretty much never get a night out together (or separately for that matter), or do anything except "kid stuff".
