Makes even more sense if you read that as "Tex-asses".

Rick Perry's vasectomy was performed by his father-in-law.

Any one else think the Bushie attacks on Perry are intended to create space between Perry and a still very unpopular Bush? I mean, if there's anyone I'm pretty confident Obama can beat in 2012, it's Bush. Since Perry is another Texas Republican with ties to Rove et al, it's necessary to establish political separation.

Say wut?

To be fair, I suspect he meant "additional tax cuts for the rich." Still, it runs counter to the whole TP comfort-the-comfortable/afflict-the-afflicted thing.

Mitch Daniels and Jeb Bush are reportedly both trying to talk Paul Ryan into the race. And the Twitter is exploding with rumors that my beloved, fat governor is conducting focus groups about running.

There does seem to be some real reservations among many Republicans about Perry. This obviously isn't a new thing--it is unusual for an incumbent who has no real serious problems to face a primary challenge as Perry did a couple of years ago. Is there some bizarre weird skeleton back in that closet? Listening to American Family Radio yesterday (there's not a lot of choice between Nashville and Memphis) they seemed quite ready to coronate him.

Nevertheless, Some of this has to do with his requirement that girls in Texas be vaccinated for HPV. There appears to be a believe among the right that girls who have sex deserve to punished with cervical cancer.

I hope they both run--it would end Ryan, an ideologue with no depth, compassion or common sense... and I'm not sure there isn't a decent president under all that flab. The guy seems unique among republicans in having a functional BS meter.

I think there's a lot of bad blood between Perry and the Bush people in Texas. Rove doesn't like Perry at all. I don't know what the story is (or if there is a public story), but this isn't a recent development.

Also there's always been a bit of a whisper campaign about Perry being gay. Not quite up to the Charlie Crist level of rumors, and way short of the Graham and Dreier stuff, and I have no idea where they come from. But as far as skeletons go, if he's had a gay affair behind his wife's back, that would be a pretty epic one.

There seems to be evidence that Perry rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

Haha, Newt is campaigning in Hawaii Saturday-Monday. He might not win the nomination, but there's something to be said for letting your campaign donors pay for a Hawaii vacation.

Knew it. He is their best candidate, by far.

Perhaps, to some degree, it's because Perry is suspected to be one of those Dominionist-Reconstructionists due to his ties with the New Apostolic Reformation and the Kingdom Now movement. Whether true or not, they probably feel being a suspected Dominionist with ties to fringies kinda hinders electability a bit.

IIRC, Bachmann is also a suspected Dominionist (I think she was in a video for one of the ministries or something like that). Though she may be proving that suspicion true with her views on homosexuality and such.

Read someone who described Bachmann and Perry as social terrorists earlier. Can't say I disagree.
