Pretty sure Men in Black II or MIIB if you prefer was the worst movie I've ever seen in theaters.

I ddint remember voting for a republican.

Governor Lucky* getting ready to join Republican race

*Won against three-term incumbent in historic Republican wave year; ran for re-election at the peak of the business cycle; ran for third term right after 9/11 when Democrats tore each other apart in the primaries, leaving already-lame nominee dead broke

I haven't the foggiest. He's the Chauncey Gardiner of recent American politics. I guess if he can be said to have a political identity, it's probably similar to Huntsman's.

Looks like it's all over bar the inevitable infighting in Libya. Saif al Islam detained and due to stand before ICC soon. African Union may be offering gadaffi a place in exile.

Anybody else think Huntsman might leave the Republicans and run as an independent?

He's clearly not crapping himself in fear of Limbaugh and Norquist. He already can claim pretty plausibly to have put country over party by virtue of his most recent job. There's a ton of money sitting on the sidelines waiting for someone who "understands business" in some way other than donning kneepads for it. And there's a vast space in the center of the electorate by virtue of the Republicans' endless rightward lurch and the damage to Obama's credibility as a leader.

I honestly think if he announced in December that he was going indy, he'd be leading the polls by March, and even could win.

did you miss the bit where egypt is still under the control of a military government who have been resisting all calls for further change and only put mubarak on trial when it all nearly kicked off again?

Peace comes dropping slow.

I thought "poor New Jersey" was probably referring to the big toll hikes on the Hudson River crossings which were agreed to on Thursday, but I guess I was wrong and PiP is better at reading minds than I am.

Fitch was the third of the three ratings agencies to downgrade New Jersey's debt this year. I didn't think it was very strange that no one noted it in this thread when S&P and Moody's downgraded the debt in February and April. I didn't think it was very strange that no one noted it in the first 24 hours this time either. New Jersey has a lot of debt and unfunded liabilities, more than just about every other state in the country. Christie has done a good bit to rein in some of the future liabilities and the present growth of spending, but hasn't been able to contribute enough to the pension fund in the state budget. The state has done a lot to get its fiscal house in order in the past two years, but it still needs to do more.

Not unless he's convinced the nominee will be Bachmann or Palin (or Perry if he hates him too). Or if he wants to try and help Obama get reelected (which I guess is possible, but I don't think its likely).
