bitchin' about wawa, starring random thoughts

I was in Richmond yesterday for work and we stopped to get gas at a Wawa. I didn't realize it was a Wawa at firs but once I did, I got so excited I just lept out of the car and ran inside. (I'm not around them every day, mind you.) My Australian coworker came in too. I tried to explain to her why I love Wawa so much but she wasn't getting it. I think it's because it was one of those monolithic gas station Wawas. Although she did say I seemed very proud to show her my childhood milk and OJ.

True fact: I have something of an ancestral relation to one of the worst convenience store brands out there--Welsh Farms.

And I also get excited when I see people consuming Turkey Hill products around here.

Not really. Though I'd absolutely have sex with her.

I used to bring a large Wawa iced tea carton to Phillies games. With a hoagie and two Tastykake packs. Ah, teen metabolism.

Completely unrelated to Wawa/Sheetz/Turkey Hill/7-11

Chick Fil-A is doing a test run on Sweet Potato Waffle Fries. Had some for lunch, they're very good.

Why does Checkers not have in-door dining? What sucks about the one by my house is that it's right off the boulevard, and it's too much of a bitch to get out of it.

Dislike Turkey Hill's iced teas. Strongly prefer Swiss Premium which most of you Philly types have probably never had. Turkey Hill definitely does lead the way in ice cream however.

Wawa is trending downward, though. They went from their "how do we be the best store" phase to their current "how can we make the most money" phase. Bacon is one example. About 2-3 years ago they switched to this awful pre-cooked stuff. It used to be a lot better. Soft pretzels are anothe example. They're pretty bad now, whereas they used to be world-class.

This is really true. Even the fake Phillies t-shirts that my uncle sells outside of Wawa have been getting crappier.

That's the new economy, where only the Thurston Howell's of the world can afford the quality of good Wawa.

Swiss Premium Raspberry Iced Tea used to be pretty much the only thing I ever drank.

The widespread availability is pretty much the only thing I like about living in Lebanon County.

There really aren't many pluses to Lebanon, but thats definitely one of them. 2 pints for a dollar at the Hess station is pretty fantastic.
