I'm pretty sure it's her home life that is weighing her down, we talk pretty often, but man what a way to start a Thursday morning.

We're here for you phillliesr98.

But of course we'll probably disperse pretty quickly, and not come back until you bring the pics

I play bridge. I learned as a kid as all of my mother's family played. Then in college I found that a couple of my stoner friends played too and I spent a lot of time over the next three years getting high and playing bridge. Since college my wife and I used to play pretty regularly, once over week or two with another couple, but then kids happened.

Hey do we have a thread about moving in with your girlfriend? Also, for future reference, do we have a thread about moving out?

I have a saying: Don't order the Huevos Rancheros only for the Rancheros. Basically, don't do things for the wrong reasons. Moving in with your girlfriend because you found a killer apartment is probably the best example of that.

That being said, I'm moving in with my girlfriend this month and it is a pretty killer apartment, but this had been in the works prior to finding the apartment so it's all good. Hopefully.

As much as it sucks to potentially sever that kind of arrangement I do think it's helpful to eventually do that kind of trial run if it's a girl you're serious about. You'll learn way more about her in the first two weeks than you did the previous two years

Yeah, I feel like years ago it was, "You're living together, you're not even married!" Now it's like, "You're getting married? You haven't even lived together!"

Plus, it just makes so much financial sense. I was always at her place anyway. Now we're both paying much less but living in a better apartment.

I disagree that living together is a good trial run for marriage, at least as a general rule. I was shacked up and I think for much of that period we were both fooling ourselves about pretty much everything. One problem is that moving in together right out of college I believe limited both of us in building a post-college social network.

Mrs. Vulture and I moved in together a few weeks before the wedding--I think that's pretty typical.

MrsVox and I lived apart before we got married, despite the fact that we had already bought a house that she lived in alone for a year. For me, it's just anecdotal, the majority of folks I know who ended up badly lived together first. Again, purely anecdotal and probably superstitious.

FWIW, I'm can't think of any of my circle of friends who didn't live together before marriage, and there have been no divorces.

I believe that divorce rate is statistically correlated with living together before marriage. However, there may be some selection bias here -- those who are opposed to living together before marriage may also be opposed to divorce.
