Yeah dude but you don't have a real job. You're not an "adult". And yes, I've done this many times
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

I feel bad that I don't have a good answer for you. I was actually going to riff on your about a post you had made a couple prior to that one, but after seeing that one I reconsidered. But I feel really badly for your young friend, and I empathize with your desire to help her. But I have no good advice. :(

When I was showering today, I dreamed up about a 10 minute worth post about how the Giants have a 10% chance to win the NFC East, but I decided not to post it. It was probably for the best.

I do that as well. I hate when they pile them all on one spot.

My folks separated for about six months maybe three years ago. It was awkward, but my parents sold it as something that was supposed to be more awkward that it was. I guess it wasn't more awkward because they still loved each other and didn't end up getting divorced. I'm pretty sure that it was just a ploy by my mom to get my dad to find a different job.

mt penn or shelbourne? i had a fly in my soda at the mt penn one.

shelbourne. i only go to the ones in mt penn and west reading now. i know it's all crap and all the employees suck/don't care at all locations, it just makes me feel better

i check burgers for hairs and possible mayo. i can't stand FREAKIN MAYO

Damn. Shelbourne was my Wendy's of choice. Guess I'll have to start going to Pottstown Wendy's.

Related side note: My friend used to/possibly still does work at the Shelbourne Wendy's. He does not have gray hair.

He's right. I think you've already missed a bunch of deadlines.

As someone who was laid off three weeks ago and is now fervidly looking into graduate schools, I am wondering what these deadlines are?

Personally, I've taken the GRE, identified my primary targets for schools and potential advisors (I'm presently initiating contact with them), requested recommendations from three of my undergraduate professors, written a template for my statement of purpose, and initiated the online application for the schools. Is there anything I should start doing immediately? I'm in the geosciences, if that matters.

Finish quickly. Get the statement of purpose done and send it out. You simply cannot apply to early, especially at this point. Remember, most academic departments more or less shut down for 4-5 weeks starting mid December.
