I like it but I'm no brie-head. Is there any particularly amazing brie in the city? Like Christmas-gift-for-picky-rich-girl-good?

I don't know about brie per se, but the cheese shop in reading terminal market will provide advice and guidance, not to mention samples. I'm sure DiBrunos right near your apartment will do the same.

I know enough people who work at DiBruno's to know not to shop there.

They all say that since a change in management about two years ago, the place is a total shit hole, with everything marked up even more than you would expect and none of the quality standards they used to have. And that it went from a place that treated their workers well to a place that was a great family-oriented place to totally cutthroat with little regard for employees.

But who knows?

That's interesting. When I lived in Philly, I loved their shop in the Italian Market. And I'm not at all shocked at the mark up. But it is interesting that the new management has allowed the quality to decline. When I was in Philly two weeks ago, I got a breakfast sandwich and coffee there, and I was unimpressed. The coffee really wasn't better than Wawa. The pastry I got the next day, however, was quite good.

Maybe I'm overstating it or maybe my friends overstated it to me, but these guys talk about it with some general wistfulness, like they used to actually care about the job but now they are bitter and hand that bitterness down to the customer.

A constant topic of conversation is how they could get away with stealing some ten thousand dollar slab of prosciutto.

It would not at all be a surprise if they treat their people poorly, and that has its own problems.

But their quality? It remains amazing.

I mean think about it, they're talking about stealing a 10,000 dollar hunk of prosciutto, not a 50 dollar piece of black forest ham. I'm not saying the employees treatment is acceptable, but let's not go besmirching the quality of a national treasure.

I was extremely worried about my waning appetite over the last few weeks up until tonight. I had a Lee's Hoagie and was still rather hungry. I made myself a chicken salad while everyone else was still finishing. Then I had a PB and J sandwich, which did nothing. Followed that up with a piece of leftover grilled chicken. That did something, but I'm still hungry. Might go for some more grilled chicken- atleast get my protein up.

Its weird but I get like that too. I didn't even eat much on Thanksgiving, and hadn't eaten much of anything really for the past two weeks. Then the last two days I went nuts, capped by three hot dogs, some mac and cheese and a half a big cookie from panera for dinner tonight.

I think I'll need to work today off for the next 5 days
