A store is charging me 24 bucks to ship 3 bottles of wine from NJ to VA. Does that sound about right? Would I save if I picked up the bottles and shipped myself? If only like a buck or two, then I'll leave it be, but if I could save as much as 10, then I'll get off my butt.

Yeah you'd save more than ten depending on how you were shipping them.

I think USPS has flat rate Priority Mail boxes that run about 10 bucks for 2-3 days shipping.

Yeah but I was under the impression that you couldn't ship alcohol through USPS, and further that I do need some safe handling in the shipping and handling department.

I think I'm gonna end up paying it, it's not that easy for me to get to the wine store.

Although the flat rate priority boxes are great, you are indeed not allowed to ship alcohol through the U. S. Mail. People still do it but wine bottles break easy so it's not a great idea unless they are really well packed.
