So the decline of the dishwasher seems to be a cousin of Why You Have To Flush You Toilet 3 Times Nowadays.
I ask this to Bucky, because I want - Nay, I NEED - his answer, but you all can answer this too.
What is the purpose of a dishwasher nowadays (and how has this changed?) Now when I place dishes and cups in the dishwasher, I have removed any trace of debris, be it food particle or sauce/ketchup/mustard stain present on the object. If I don't, the dishes come out essentially how they went in, with debris or stain still present.
So that brings up the question of why do I need the dishwasher if I've just essentially washed the dish. I suppose I don't use as much soap, so the washer can serve as a disinfectant, but is that really the only purpose?
I somewhat assumed I just had a cheap dishwasher, but your post has made me question this. Also, my glasses come out looking so streaky/spotty, and jet dry hasn't helped. Please Dr. Bucky, help me out.
