Smokers are heroes. Consider--they pay more in taxes by using a product that shortens their lives. Here in Arkansas, we've increased the tobacco tax in order to pay for a statewide trauma system. I think we should give smokers medals.

Except they drive up the cost of health care and insurance too. Or maybe they lower the costs. I forget.

Being a nerd, I primarily pursue other nerds. "Hey baby, want to do some quadratic equations on my TI-83?" That line never fails.

My father way back in the 70s thought it would be a good idea if I learned how to use a slide rule.

If I remember how to use one, it could be a second valuable post-apocalyptic skill I have along with knowing how to brew beer. I really need to learn how to distill alcohol, and I'll be all set.

something happened with my direct deposit during pay period 1 of this year and it just stopped working. every time i try to re-enroll the system they have set up tells me that i'm already enrolled. i've talked to the dicks in hr about five times so far, five different dicks, and each time they tell me that it's showing i'm good to go. i've tried to explain to them that i'm not ok and this problem has been going on for more than three months now, but they don't feel like doing any actual work, which is why they're in hr in the first place, so they just blah blah blah until i hang up because i'm tired of the same old rhetoric. it's to the point now where i'll be getting checks every two weeks like some lesbian for the rest of my life. mother fuckers.
