Plus, what advice did you hope to get from a bunch of kids all under 25 who have no kids of their own?

Yeah, tell people close to you and your family you're considering divorce. See how that goes.

Talking about things is therapeutic.

jeff, you're correct on all accounts.

just to help color the situation, however, i myself am a kid of 25 years old. also, i drank myself into oblivion last night. not an excuse, just letting you know my mindset. one can probably tell by my post count i dont do what i did last night all that often; outside of a few weekends ago.

i feel like a scumbag today for lots of reasons, several posts on here being one of them.

So next time give him your google chat id or AIM id or whatever and talk it out. This is too public. I don't want mose holding these thoughts in if he has them. Again, the thoughts and the person aren't bad. The medium of communication was.

I have 3 degrees from 3 different schools. No, none of you are getting any of my money until I'm in a net positive financial position after paying all those years of tuition.

You would give them money after that, though?

I figure Lafayette College already got almost $100,000 from me (well, from my parents, but it doesn't really matter), they can pound sand if they think they're getting more.

(I suppose I might feel differently if I'd actually graduated, but not necessarily.)

I gave my grad school a SMALL donation this month. My wife got pissed.

But it was the best two years of my life and it undeniably improved my skills. Yes I paid tuition, but I figure donations help keep costs down.

Don't judge on mose.

As if most/all of us in our 20s (and since, and still) didn't get wasted and howl at the moon and wonder about our life choices and curse the fates and then realize it's probably in some sense okay and ultimately find some way to put it in perspective and "grow," but nobody really grows, it's just the problems shift and then your responses shift, all just enough to keep things marginally interesting until the fucking season starts already. As if.

Anyway, let's get this back to random. OF COURSE it shouldn't be necessary to point this out, but I will: no moral or psychological aspersions are intended by the following comparison.

Eric Bruntlett

Charlie Manson

Other than the swastika--admittedly a big factor--tell me Brunt doesn't look creepier.

He obviously felt bad about it. You don't need to rub it in.

You clearly didn't know how old he was.

Why not put it on a message board? He was drunk and talking through stuff. It's not like any of us really know him in real life.

yeah, i don't think this is a bad place to discuss these things. the thread's going to disappear once it reaches 50 pages, and there's nobody here who's going to judge him for any of it, or tell anybody that matters.

I definitely can be a jackass.

But stop defending it. It was wrong wrong wrong. Don't write stuff about your son and wife and contemplating cheating on a message board. There is 0 upside to it. 0. You're not married, you're not in a relationship. You don't understand.

Again, I'm not saying mose is a bad person. I'm not saying his thoughts aren't normal. I am saying that venting on a message board (throwing in the fact that he was venting to a bunch of people who couldn't possibly understand) is a tremendously awful idea that could end up hurting a lot more people.

Finally, mose in the back of his mind knows this which is why he didn't take exception to my post. People need to stop being tolerant of other people's thoughts and words. (I think I'm mostly kidding with that last part)

Being in your 20's sucks. No matter who you are or what you are it just plain sucks I think. If you are married you see your single friends and their seemingly endless freedom and one night stands or casual dating and you remember back to the days not so long ago when you yourself were doing that and you think it kind of sucks not doing that anymore and it's all you want. Then you have your friends that are still in that phase of their life, looking at you and wanting that stability in their life, that commitment and everything that goes along with it. Basically I'm stating the old grass in greener argument, but in this case, and I know sometimes I think longingly back on my teens and early 20's dumbassery and miss it, the married life IS better for you in the long run (of course this is generalization, sometimes a marriage is just not gonna work).

I don't really know where I'm going here, but if I'm allowed to give some advice here to MCM, take a step back from your relationship for a moment, and what I mean is, try to look at the forest instead of the trees. You might be in a rough spot which is fixable, but it's hard to see it because you only see these dead ugly trees around you with sticker bushes all around the base. Try to look through that, see if there is a nice, lush rain forest beyond the ugly and painful stuff you have surrounding you. It might make it easier, or at least possible for you to wade through the dense sticker bushes that are your relationship now if you can see the "paradise" that awaits you on the other side.
