I more or less like his music, but I really do think that was one of the more ignorant/reprehensible things said by any public figure in recent years. Feel free to call Bush incompetent for Katrina, or even grossly negligent, but to introduce race into the equation is one of the reasons that we're never going to advance to where we need to with race relations in this country. I think it's pretty damn clear that George Bush values human life regardless of the color of the individual's skin. We're all god's children who strive for liberty and are deserving of dignity et cetera et cetera. You can disagree with his methods, but to imply he's a racist is beyond stupid and really not helpful. So basically, I think a whole lot less of Kayne for saying that because it makes me think he's a moron.

that's fair. my only point is that the perception of Kanye is that he's a selfish, self-centered, egoist, and i was basically citing that as one of the main sources of that point of view. and i don't think that's a proper reason for having that point of view. i still agree with you there, and i don't think our points conflict with each other.

i certainly don't think he's very informed politically or socially; i just think he's really good at what he does musically.

Whenever West said the Bush doesn't care about black people thing my heart actually dropped when I heard it.

It got him some more pub, but it was something everyone could have done without at that time. There were obviously huge screwups but comments like that were the last thing that were needed. His only charity that day was for himself.
