Desperately Random, like the elaborations of a bad liar

Not their own, I just cited them as they are the one's I most come in contact with. I usually associate the accent with North Jersey, but, and this is one of the reasons I despise it so much, I know quite a few guys from South Jersey (and I occasionally hear it around at Old City bars) that have forcefully adopted the accent (that's why I referred to it as "faux"). I don't know if they think it's got a certain cache to it or what, I just think it sounds ridiculous--even worse when it's coming from someone who is consciously speaking that way.

I actually enjoy writing, but I can't stand writing introductions. Those first few paragraphs take me an abnormal amount of time to write, even when the rest of the paper is already written.

Here's a secret--an intro can be one sentence long.

I find the South Jersey, faux Italian/Guido to be particularly irritating. Talk about a bunch of people embracing their own stereotypes.

Those are Philly transplants. Philly accent has permeated much of south jersey in places like washington township and gloucester. It's pretty harsh. as a native south jerseyan, I have a little pride in not having a north jersey/guido accent and not having a kenzo/south philly -wooder, leg(league) accent

septa's late-night service blows. they run like five buses through the entire city, and no BSL or El. it takes me two hours to get home if i'm downtown late at night, and i live in the city.

I thought I would live at home for at least a year after college to save money, but the second time I had to tell a group of girls I had to "catch the late train," that part of my life was over.

yeah, i guess it's even worse if you've gotta take the regional rail, too. i'm lucky enough to be able to jump on the BSL night owl bus service and take the 18 to a couple blocks from my house.

His first two albums are incredible. Haven't heard the last two.

I doubt you've ever heard one of his albums.

I've liked some of his songs. Can't say I've ever listened to an entire cd of his.

I just don't like him. He seems like a dick and a pussy(that's not what I said!) all in one.

what i've heard of 808s and Heartbreak i haven't been very fond of, but Graduation is pretty decent. Late Registration's still one of my favorite rap albums, probably. but i've been listening to Graduation more recently.

he's a joke of a persona, but he's probably the most talented rap producer since...maybe anyone. he's certainly up there. his rhymes aren't great, but you can overlook that a bit because of how well put together his albums are thematically and musically.

oh yeah, his persona goes a long way toward fueling hype for his record sales, too. it's really annoying, but no publicity is bad publicity, as they say.

The truth is I did have a a period where I listened to a lot of rap and my favorite songs were always Ludacris and DMX. I think "HO" and phat rabbit were blasting for a big part of spring break. X GON GIVE IT TO YOU. There was a little bit of Rock mixed in there(I think Staind and Disturbed).

I feel old now thinking back

I actually think his persona is pretty killer when you get past the superficial stuff. Most of people's poor opinions of him come from blog posts and articles that begin from the premise that he's a dick and just go on to rag about him.

He's get out there at his concerts, and talks, explicitly, about how musicians and fans are too eager to find a comfort zone and stick to it, how people are infatuated with the past and ignore the incredible music that's being made every day, about how the only way to break new ground is to try. And the guy is productive as hell, constantly working. Who else is doing that in pop music? Nobody. He's fucking awesome.

i'm mostly with you there, housh, but the main stick in my craw is how he makes stuff all about him when it's the biggest stage. i think his "George Bush doesn't care about black people" thing was a courageous thing to do on his part, but obviously it's not going to be perceived that way when you're in the middle of a benefit special.

he didn't help his case when he screwed over Phil Lesh, Pearl Jam and thousands of people who waited to see him and them at Bonnaroo this year. that was legitimately all his fault. and he doesn't help matters with lyrics like "You should be honored by my lateness." it's funny to me, but it's not funny to people who don't have senses of humor and take musicians'/celebrities' images so seriously.
