Is that the definition of socialism?

I said it's too close to socialism for my liking and it would be by far the biggest move towards socialism since two weeks ago.

Guy named Milton Friedman argued for a negative income tax.

I'm serious, you have no business hanging out on a Phillies messageboard if politics is more interesting to you than game five of the NLCS, I don't care what the score is.

ha. i flipped to CNN to try and watch the debate, since Im an out of towner and cant watch the Phillies stuff now.

This "scoring" is beyond dumb. Everyone has at least 7 "points" given except Gergen, who has given out 1 to each. Presumably he was asleep?

Obama will be pushing back the start of Game 6 by 15 minutes

then again - I say we sweep and this won't be an issue! ;)

I guess it doesn't matter too much, but these games start late enough as it is.

i need to eat some ass.

i'm listening to this fuckhole on CNBC, and he's standing in front of a europac.net backdrop saying that the government (through the tax code and monetary mismanagement, no less) is what caused the financial collapse, and that, by acting, they've turned it from a mild recession to an inflationary depression.

this is why i own guns. these people do not get to break the country and it's financial system through fundamental deregulation and then buy up the pieces for pennies on the dollar without expecting to find a shotgun shell lodged firmly up their ass.

i'm going out, hopefully to find that hot skinhead in the library. i'll be back next week.
if you don't know what the wrestlers are trying to do--how certain moves and holds are supposed to work and so forth, then it might just look like too sweaty guys rolling around on a mat.

Oh. I'm replying to a Steagles post. Um. OK.

It's a shame no one will be watching a Rays/Phillies World Series, this could amount to bad PR for Obama :)

I just never got that worked up over this story. Even if true, people get kind of riled up at events like that and say things they might not literally mean. For instance, I don't want the Eagles' defense to literally end the life of Clinton Portis during one of his 22 yard carries, but I have been known to yell "KILL HIM!" at the television.

It's creepy, yes, that someone (might have) said that at a political rally, but I don't think it's evidence of anything more than poor word choice/misplaced priorities.

I kind of wish there were a character like Joe the Plumber, except called Fred the Rapist, who could be hired by one of the campaigns to trick the other candidate into saying something pro-rape.

The earned income tax credit, which was championed by Bill Clinton and had some Republican support I'm pretty sure, is a refundable credit, meaning poor people can get back money they never paid in taxes in the first place.

It may or may not be socialism, but it's not a new concept for us.

BTW, who cares if it's "socialism" or not. We should care if it will work.
