I've thought about the speech as a mindless partisan last night, then as a political scientist this morning, and now I'm reacting as a father of a daughter.
And I'm a pretty pissed off father. I'm trying to keep my daughter from becoming a teenage mother. I think Sarah Palin's parading her tramp daughter is making my job as a father harder. And the punk who knocked her up? Why the fuck is he on stage? Who the hell are these people?

I don't want hockey mom street trash being vice president of my country. And even less I don't want a man or an administration sleazy enough to select her as its president.
This is not a politician. This is reality TV finally brought to the highest offices of national government. She's public spectacle, not a maverick. She doesn't have unique or original thoughts- more like a pretty face slogan spouting machine made to order up lots of votes from a populace that doesn't know what or who is real anymore. Palin is as striking a sign that America is coming undone as any that has come before. I am serious about that.
