There's no such thing as "domestic" oil, unless you're thinking of nationalizing the oil companies, which I don't think is your kind of schtick.

It's a stupid issue though, one which should be decided on basic cost/benefit analysis, just as offshore drilling should be, but which has been so loaded with political signifiers by left and right that it when and if it's done it will certainly be at the wrong time at the wrong price for the wrong reasons.

I commented to my wife that Palin acted exactly like the beauty pageant contestant that she was for so many years as she soaked up the applause prior to her speech. She certainly had that dull empty stare and saccharine smile down pat, all that was missing was the little cupped hand wave, the tiara, and the sash.
