What are you hearing?

I talked to my uncle today, and he was cautiously optimistic that it would be Pawlenty. I'd just be so pumped if he picked him.

Nothing insider-y, but InTrade has him hugely up and Marc Ambinder seems to think he now has Secret Service protection and has cleared his schedule. Ambinder's blog is pretty good, if that's not a regular stop for you.

Hmm...I'm looking at his blog now. Romney was the one that had his home swept by secret service or something. Pawlenty has cleared his schedule, but I thought I read or saw that everyone is flying to Ohio so that the secret can be kept.

Honestly, I think the spectacle of Romney, Huckabee, Pawlenty, whomever all on stage when they name the veep, if that's what they do, would be pretty awesome.

Just like Miss America!

Huckabee is sure to get Mr. Congeniality.

That's a bit reality-TV for my taste, but admittedly it would be a compelling watch.

Then again, I'm the guy who thinks one debate should include a drinking contest. Were I the head of the DNC, I'd probably hire Mike Veeck to run my convention...

No, but (and I know you're a man who will understand this sentiment) I also don't like stadium concerts at my advanced age. And that's basically what this is.

I was at the convention in 2004, and it was an awesome and surreal week.

They should have some kind of Bachelor/Survivor-esque council/ceremony where McCain earnestly tells the also-rans that they're "really incredible" people, that he "loves them" but isn't "in love with them" and that they "deserve more" he can give them.

Then, as the limos take them away, the tearful contenders break down and tell the camera that they regret opening up so much, because that's how you get a broken heart.

Michael Mother-Fucking McDonald about to play at the DNC!!!!

I read 10:15 earlier. I don't know how accurate that is.

Things have been running pretty much according to the clock. And they're doing the biographical film now, so I'm guessing it will start pretty close to on time.

My wife is watching the end of some crappy war movie, so I'm stuck with the C-SPAN feed...
