I'm pretty sure Obama is going to lose and I blame religious crazies and racists.

I'm not sure in what order though.

yuck yuck

McCain's campaign made fun of Obama's energy proposal Monday by distributing tire pressure gauges to McCain's traveling press corps.

The gag was meant to mock Obama's remark last week that "making sure your tires are properly inflated" could help conserve gasoline.

Before departing for Pennsylvania, Mark Salter, a top McCain adviser, told the press on board McCain's plane that campaign staffers had brought along copies of Obama's energy plan for reporters to study on the flight.

After takeoff, Salter re-emerged with his punch line, passing out the pressure gauges reading "Obama's energy plan" to the journalists on the flight.

The Republican National Committee said McCain supporters in Michigan were planning to distribute the same gauges at Obama's energy speech in Lansing today.

It's painful.

It's a good idea. It's not the solution, which I guess what is being mocked, but it's still a good thing to do.

Even though properly inflated tires improved gas milage, prolongs tire life, safer, et al, looks like Camp McCain is trying to make a Jimmy Carter "put on a sweater" correlation. Not that there was anything wrong with Carter's comment of 30 years ago, just that it isn't what people want to hear (they want the prez to provide solutions and not put the burden on them).

This is just my own gut feeling and perhaps the conventions will change it up, but I feel like the Obama-mania is going or already tiring and that it favors McCain to go longer. As long as McCain doesn't keep doing these really weird ads and if he tries to play up the image LAx attributed to him of being one-on-one in small town meetings... I think he can win over a lot of older white America which usually means victory. This without the help from cheating.

You can only take this sort of stuff too far. At best you're having fun and at worst you look mean and that you're not taking the campaign seriously. The more times you do this, the meaner you look.

Obama should come out and say, "I'm offering solutions and they're making jokes. I'm running for President. Are they running for The Tonight Show?"

This gives Obama the perfect opportunity to look Presidential. Yet he's been playing the victim. Sure that makes McCain look bad, but we elect Presidents, not victims. He's gone as far as he can giving people reasons not to vote for McCain. He's gotten the people who will vote against McCain due to the war and the economy. He's got to give them reasons not to vote for the Democrat, but to vote for him.

Wow. I agree with ptk. :o :o :o

If you haven't jumped on Obamamania by now you're not likely to buy. As I mentioned above, the weird ads will only work for McCain for a little while. McCain is popular when he gets in front of Black audiences talking about school vouchers. People see him as having the conviction to take unpopular stances, so he actually can benefit when a voter sees that McCain disagrees with him. As the Republican primaries showed McCain has a way of overcoming a lull in popularity by slowly connecting with voters. Obama needs to find something new to connect.

I don't mean to imply that he's popular with Black audiences when he does this. He's popular with the other people who see him talking about something unpopular to that audience.

School vouchers are popular among African Americans though. It’s like the one issue they agree with the Republican Party on. That and when we hate on gay marriage and immigration.

Obama mania is wearing out. The last two ads were great, and yes, as long as they dont over do them, they work.

I was going to post this as well. It's suburban voters in affluent districts with good public schools and teacher's unions who don't like vouchers.

really? keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure is painful? Is wiping your own ass after you take a dump painful too? I think Phil Gramm may have been on to something--perhaps we are a nation of whiners.

No, watching McCain's campaign wave around tire gauges is painful.

And Gramm was right. We are a nation of whiners. You ever read a game thread here?

If I started reading negative comments in game threads with that Doug and Wendy whiner voice (Joe Piscopo and someone else on SNL), I'd probably off myself sometime before the 6th inning.
