This really is a joke.

I hope by humanitarian aide Bush really means lots and lots of weapons packed into red cross crates.

I'd imagine we are daring Russia to shoot at one of our planes at this point.

there's noone left to fight.

not even a draft could help georgia at this point, because in the time it would take to call up and train enough troops to force russia into a legitimate ceasefire, there would be nothing left to defend.

this country is toothless.

Has anyone suggested yet that Putin is just doing his Illuminati/Mason brother John McCain a favor with this whole Georgia thing?

If not, I want credit for starting it, cause you know it's gonna happen.

that crossed my mind, but mccain really hasn't benefited from this.

he can't threaten russia with anything more than words and bluster because the american military is so bogged down in the middle east. there's noone left stateside to intimidate russia, and unless you're gonna arm the us olympic team, who's already in the region, there;s noone to send.

this action by russia leaves no room for negotiation. the iraq occupation needs to end, and those troops need to be reallocated towards pursuits that actually have a best case scenario.

within 20 years, iraq will not exist. there's nothing tying the three regions of people together, and as oil demand decreases, that sole reason for keeping the country together will dissipate, and the region will sort itself out again.

the funny thing is that even if oil demand greatly increases during that period of time, there will still be a lot of pressure to split as each of the three groups fight to get the best deal.

Some speculation that he was recently laid off from one of Gwatney's car dealerships.

This is bogus. I never supported Russia. I said that things might not be as simple as being pumped in the mainstream media.

Look at the link above I posted with interview about Cheney CIA possible manufacture false docs to make connection between Al Qaeda and Iraq...

because of course I'm extreme to be suspicious that the govt and the corproate media would never intentionally mislead the people...

wake up man

I don't know what's really going on over there and niether do you

I heard it on a talk show earlier. A conservative suggested that Putin wanted Obama because Obama would approach anything from a negotiation position. A caller pointed out that wouldn't this help McCain? If he wanted Obama, why not wait a few months?

McCain came out tough on this. Some here will say too confrontational or aggressive. Obama's people are putting out that McCain's stance made the situation worse and made the Russians more aggressive. McCain has been on the "Russia is aggressive bandwagon" for over a year. Obama made three statements, the last in his press conference. He's gotten tougher, but not as tough as McCain, in each one.

McCain has staked out a foreign policy position, for good or ill. Ironically Obama, who accuses Bush of concentrating only Iraq, had no position on Georgia until after some briefings. Obama is in a difficult spot. He has to come out as more diplomatic than McCain the war monger, but if he's too conciliatory he comes out as weak and naive.

His stance on foreign policy is diplomacy. He says that Bush has failed in foreign policy because he doesn't talk to other countries. That sounds great, because he can hope that people believe that diplomacy will always work. We're all for that. Yet in situations like this a country isn't interested in diplomacy. Obama can't afford situations where diplomacy doesn't work. He has to sell it that if he were President he would've talked to Putin beforehand and this wouldn't have happened.
