I really wish I knew how to surf. How does someone like me who grew up 5 minutes from the beach never surfed before?

If this entire summer is just going to be one big Michael Phelps commercial I'm going to stop watching TV.

I've incorporated D Plainview's best lines into my everyday....

Drive-Thru Attendant: "...your total is $6.66. Please pull around to the first window."

FlightRisk: "If I travel all the way up there and I find that you've been lying to me, I'm going to find you and I'm going to take more than my money back. Is that all right?"
I'm afraid you're just too darn loud.

I just watched the pilot episode of The A-Team on Hulu. It was a pretty great mix of unintentional comedy, racial and ethnic stereotypes and a cameo by the guy who played Horshack on Welcome Back Kotter. God I loved that show.

It's the 100th anniversary of the Tungusa event. Don't know what that is? Neither did I - it's pretty wild.

I've experienced as series of epic household mishaps this weekend, and it doesn't look like it's going to end anytime soon.

Saturday we go to church and then pick up dinner and a video. I put in a load of laundry before leaving. Come home to find that my gigantic bottle of laundry detergent fell off the shelf and spilled ALL over the laundry room floor. It took four hours, all the towels in the house and a trip to KMart to get it all cleaned up and the soap residue off the floor. This included moving the washer and dryer and cleaning under them. Which dislodged the already poorly installed dryer vent.

Sunday I finish cleaning up the remains of the mess, which means putting back everything that was on the floor that got soapy, and rinsing out the towels before washing them, so that the washer doesn't explode from too much soap. I end up leaving the faucet running in the sink, causing an overflow of water, flooding the laundry room. This again requires all the towels in the house (all that were rinsed and dried thankfully before the overflow). Again, the washer and dryer needed to be moved, making necessary another re-installation of the dryer vent, because I apparently didn't put it on tight enough Saturday.

The kids are just being kids today, but already I've been woken up at 6.00, had complaints of being too sick to eat, miraculous recovery of sickness immediately after I chucked the uneaten breakfast, and a spilled glass of chocolate milk.

Oh, and put in front of all this that not only did I water the lawn Thursday night, but I also watered the inside of Vox's car and now it apparently smells.

You should have just hosed it down and charged admission for a foam party.

It was a brand new 100oz bottle, so it was easily a gallon of detergent. The puddle was the width of the washer, dryer, and utility sink, and about four feet across in the other direction, and about a half inch deep in some parts. Not to mention how slippery the floor was until it was clean. Plus the trip to kmart to get a real mop (I just had a swiffer) was about 40 minutes.

A gallon is 128 ounces. Nevertheless, I can see why it was a huge mess to clean up.

Good point! Far too often I see common average folk who don't know better playing fast and loose with weights and measures. These people need to be called out in a public fashion and shamed for their indiscretions. Nice work.
Signature? Why do they need me to sign here? I don't think I'm comfortable with that.
