80% of a good sandwich is the roll/bread.

Not being native to the Philly area, I have no real attachment to hoagies. They're good and all, but they're just sandwiches. Subway, Quiznos, etc. make acceptable sandwiches, and a wider variety than you're likely to find in a typical sub/hoagie shop.

I'll submit that it's hard to find a real, credible Italian hoagie even here in north Jersey. But the Jewish delis are outrageously good.

a north jersey sloppy joe, on the other hand, is effing other worldly.

In Millburn, there's a place on Millburn Ave, that has the best sloppy joes, I wish I could remember the name...

I think they meant the sandwhiches and not an actual subway car

I can't remember if it was them, there were 3 places we went pretty regularly, and I can't remember which one had them, that's probably it though.

So what you're saying is, there are no mom and pop delis anywhere near your job? I find that hard to believe. Sure, Subway might be quick, but it's also mass produced crap. I'll only choose Subway if there are no better options around. Thankfully there is a kickass deli less than a half mile from my job, though I rarely go out for lunch.

Big deli case, kind of loud and busy, little tables set up out front, right next to Basilico?

The Livingston Deli also has some really nice stuff (soups in particular) but around lunch time the place gets jammed with moms in trackpants with four annoying kids apiece.

I bring my lunch almost every day. Near my house, I know some great delis, Sarcone's being the best. I eat at Subway a few times a year when I have to go the bank and it's always just fine. There are no Mom and Pop deli's that don't suck on the Parkway or JFK Blvd between my work and the bank. I'm glad you and most people know a good deli near you, but the claim that any old privately-owned shop is going to make a good sandwich is just wrong. Plenty of them will just throw some inferior ingredients together and only buy new rolls when they're out of the last batch.

Sea bass is only on Tuesdays. Thursday is Kobe beef cheesesteaks with shaved truffles.

I wasn't really serious. But yeah, I still do fancy cooking. I guess I won't be able to do as much once the kid arrives, though.

It's where these folks live:

They live in a Dee-lux apartment in the sky. It's in New York so I'm not sure how this helps Housh.
