Remember that Reagan wasn't very Reagan-esque himself.

Also, Fox evidently called CT for Obama... which is pretty big if it holds up.

And while I'm peeing sunshine, Clinton's margins in NJ and NY are dropping. We're getting a lot of delegates in her "backyard."

So if Huckabee wins everything close, does he get the "Rally against McCain" vibe going for him?

edit: Now they've called Kansas for Obama.

omg, you are watching Fox?

Bill Bennet, who worked with Reagan, says this quite a bit.

Huckabee talking up the Giants on CNN. This man is moving up in my book steadily.

Um...we have to put up with more weeks of this.

McCain is somewhat close to icing it away, but he's not winning these states by much.

Obama and Hillary are trading blows. As far as the narrative going forward goes, whoever wins CA tonight is going to have a huge momentum advantage. Either way, delegates are going to be very close.

No, I saw it on the interwebs.

I'm watching (when I'm not sitting here at the computer) MSNBC, which currently has Terry McAuliffe on.

I'm not sure there's anyone on "our side" I detest more than this bombastic clod. He's Vince McMahon, only with less wit, charm and entrepreneurial skill.

Now MSNBC calls CT for Obama!

It was between 1976 and whenever McCain/Feingold passed.

Don't you think organizations outside the candidates should have the ability to compete with their ads? Until they start letting you on TV, the radio, or magazines and newspapers for free, money does = free speech.

Laexile wrote:I see being conservative about doing what's right for business. Some don't. If McCain is trying to limit free speech isn't that the conservative stance? Liberals are the big stalwarts of free speech. I don't think campaign finance reform limits free speech. It helps the people and limits free speech for rich people.

The classic definition of Republican is that Republicans believe in helping people help themselves and Democrats believe in helping people. A lot of the other things now called conservative have changed over time. Republicans used to be the party perceived as for civil rights and Democrats against them. Being conservative will constantly be redefined and change.

Being conservative, I think, by definition, does not constantly redefine and change itself. That's why it's conservative. Being conservative means looking at the Constitution as meaning what it says, and only what it says. It means state's rights and civil rights. It doesn't necessarily require pro-life, but the fact that it is the states' decision to make. The reason true conservatism is pro-business is because it does not interfere with it. I don't think it's conservatism that's changed, I think it's what passes for conservatism that's different.

I look forward to getting my ass kicked in a debate now.

I only like disenfranchising stupid liberals. That makes me a moderate.
