I think it's Roseman trying to create some certainty in general, so he knows how much flexibility they'll have come March. Also, he needs to find out which players will have to restructure or be cut

McLane: Zach Ertz is now slotted behind Jimmy Graham ($10M), Julius Thomas (9.2), Rob Gronkowski (9) and Charles Clay(7.6) in per-year $ for TEs.

Feel like GM Chip would've waited a year to try and sign him as UFA. When money got too high he would let Ertz walk and use 2017 2nd on TE.

I'd take a little more consistency. He makes plays but I feel he leaves some on the field each game.
