As for how much to pay a player or how to structure a deal, I don't have a lot to say there, out of my expertise.

I do think Ertz is not yet in the strata of best TEs - but he could be. Yes, he has left something on the field it seems most games even his good ones but he showed something in those last two we hadn't seen before that is very encouraging. This was a solid signing, he's a solid young core player for the future. Doesn't really matter who the HC or OC are - Ertz would fit most passing-minded coaches with a modern view of TEs these days.

Banner is a prick. Why sour the kid when he's feeling good?

I think Demarco Murray, Ertz and things being more settled down post-Chip will go a long way toward Sam "wanting" to remain with the Birds all things being equal. It will still come down to money, guaranteed money and length of deal.

Celek. Not sure. Pederson knows him. Chip loved Celek and Demeco. Demeco has had bad injuries and is maybe a little older not sure, but Celek is around 30, hardly 35. And he's still solid. He can have a 75yards game and 2 TDs on occasion still. I don't know if its too much invested in TE position or not? What if Ertiz, go* forbid goes on IR - you will be glad to have Celek.

I'm guessing Vinny Curry is next. And Lane Johnson.

This offseason's been fucking amazing. In fact, a cynic would say Lurie fired CH!P with no real contingency plan in place

FWIW I'm not even sure I hate bringing Washburn back: Schwartz and him and have a strong relationship and he is great at coaching the style of DL play he'll want. Hell, I'd take him over Segrest 10/10 times.

If our fortunes rise and fall with the DL coach, we're in a pretty unique situation.

So Ertz got top 5 TE money and Banner thinks he was laughably underpaid? Is Ertz that good compared to the field? Is the cap about to jump or something?

The salary cap is set to go up significantly. It's projected to be between $150 and $153.4 million for the 2016 season which would be a $7-10m jump from 2015. It is then expected to go into the $160s for the 2017 season. That doesn't even factor in league revenue growth from Los Angeles and some of their new television contracts.

It's been rising pretty aggressively now for three years and for the time being, there is no end in sight.

2016: $150 million-$153.4 million (projected)
2015: $143.28 million
2014: $133 million
2013: $123 million
2012: $120.6 million
2011: $120 million

The Carson Wentz buzz is approaching critical mass. Some have him as the #2 QB in the draft ahead of Lynch.......and guess where he is projected to go?
