The rumor circulating around Cleveland area is that Johnny Football wants to become a Cowboy. Don't know if its possible. Would JJ want him?.

^That's almost certainly going to happen, but it wouldn't preclude them from drafting a QB at No. 4. Most popular guess at this point though is WR Treadwell at 4.

It is then expected to go into the $160s for the 2017 season. That doesn't even factor in league revenue growth from Los Angeles and some of their new television contracts.

It's been rising pretty aggressively now for three years and for the time being, there is no end in sight.

2016: $150 million-$153.4 million (projected)
2015: $143.28 million
2014: $133 million
2013: $123 million
2012: $120.6 million
2011: $120 million

It's amazing to me that the salary cap in football is lower the the luxury tax number in baseball. AND it needs to be divided up between twice as many players per team.
(Brandy) only hinted at Halladay's personal issues during her Hall of Fame speech last July, when she said, "Roy would want everyone to know that people are not perfect. We're all imperfect and flawed in one way or another. We all struggle."

Jerruh's son had to practically wrestle him to prevent JJ from sending in a card with Manziels name on it during the draft. They're gonna send team ambassador Greg Hardy to make their pitch

6mil guaranteed.

Ike Reese hates it. Says Celek is done.

If this provides cap relief this year, I like it.

Celek, is only 30 and locking down both your TEs for reasonable money feels good. That's 26mil in guaranteed money to Ertz and Celek. That probably spans the next 3 years.

My guess is Pederson wanted to keep Celek around for at least this year, and this deal will really knock down the $5 mil cap number he was due at

Yea I don't think Celek was a turnstile when blocking on the line this year. I don't mind this move.

it is interesting to see a guy basically go through 3 careers all with one team. i like celek, but i do think he's pretty much toast.

there is something to be said for continuity, though. we all saw that early in this past season

Sprolz as ST coach and Demarco handles whatever the RB position is by then.

Celek had more than a few plays last year where he looked dazed, unsure of who to block, but so did everyone else.

It'll drop his cap number less than a million (on average--hard to say until we see the details) and extend the commitment two more years. I don't think the cap figure came into play in the slightest.

I'm guessing they didn't like any of the FA or draft options to replace Celek. Not bad to get the cap number lower, but he really needs to be the backup to Ertz at this point

Ertz says Bradford wants to return and the Wolfman says that he will, fwiw. Retaining Celek seems to align with that

I'd be stunned if he has even cap hits for the next three seasons. If I had to guess, there will be a lot of non-guaranteed money in year 3 that he will never see. This feels very similar to DeMeco's extension last year which cut his cap hit in half while creating minimal additional financial commitment on the team's end.
