have they? it's been mostly players putting that info out there when asked. Pederson also mentioned it in the PC right?, but it seems like he spoke out of turn and off Luries script.

Bunch of stuff on twitter about Pederson and roseman being non-committal.

I will say this --

you could argue that once Flacco and Ryan got their big deals in Balt and Atl - that those teams went down not up. And that GB is struggling to keep talent around Rogers. Ans that R Wilson gets the big pay we may see Seattle fall from SB contender --

there is a case to be made - that if you don't think Sam Bradford can win a SB for you in the next 3 years - that you take a step back with QB and use the resources to fill other holes. Rebuild the D, get the running game solid with a solid Oline - and limp forwards with the likes of Chase Daniels and Mark Sanchez until you find your next young guy in this or next year's draft that can emerge?

I just get scared that patience is thin - it frustrates the rest of the team when they play well enough to get wins and the backup caliber QB loses the game. When you are 7-8 win team at best. Bradford's a long shot. Maybe wins 11 games and a playoff game? Can he do the Trent Dilger, Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien thing - and just have one year ending in a ring?

20+ mil is a lot in one player. But if Sanchize Daniels is 10mil for those 2, it's not a savings of 20mil it's savings of 10mil. What does that buy you this year?

Turns out they met with him yesterday and tonight's meeting is a second one

Head coach Doug Pederson is expected to be at the second interview, but he was not at the first.

"I like him," Pederson said Wednesday after watching Wentz practice. "He's got great size. Good mobility. Strong kid. Good arm. It'll be interesting to sit down with him and see where he is at mentally. By the eye, talented kid that looks like he can play in this league.

hmm...so we're telling everyone we really like Wentz and we're not sure about re-signing Bradford. Their sneaky plan to get someone to trade up for him is gonna bust when Bradford signs somewhere else (although the franchise tag would counter that)

Looks like the Eagles also have a second interview tonight with Kansas State OG Cody Whitehair. He met with Stoutland last night and will meet Pederson tonight

Dak Prescott fans, he says the Eagles haven't talked to him and as of now don't have any plans to

I like Wentz from the TWO games I saw on the television. Still waiting for my PSUEAGLE breakdown exclusive.

The last time I watched him was ~ August (his junior film): he didn't stand out to me then as a Top 10 type prospect. HOWEVUH, guys can and do make big leaps in their senior year. What I do remember is that he's a very good athlete who throws exceptionally well going towards the sidelines (Comeback/Deep Out): he's got a big time arm.

I'll watch some NDSU stuff in the next few days and give you my thoughts.

Tough because you know some predraft stuff is all posturing BUT if they truly go the Andy route, they take a QB.

They're a lot better than that 1998 squad though. This year was a trash fire coaching wise.

The Eagles are like roughly 80% of the NFL: they have some talented players and legitimate strengths while also having more than a few holes.

You don't need a PTK missive to know that the only way you're a consistent contender is to either be crazy loaded (Cincinnati, Denver, Seattle) or have a great QB (New England, Green Bay, Indianapolis). The Eagles have been an average to below average drafting team for a long time: that more than anything else is why they've muddled along.

Quickest way to rebuild is nail the QB selection.

Hardest way to rebuild is also, nailing said QB selection.

For a long time the narrative of them drafting poorly didn't resonate. But I really can see it now. Just way too many busts in the first three rounds. Way too little from the 3rd round in general - granted I'm spanning 99-15 so 15-16 drafts - but a lot more misses than hits. In 15 years they drafted 1-4 borderline HOF talents (Donovan, BWest, Cox*, Shady)

Sub-par value in the first 3 rounds incude:

FredX, McDougle, Bunkley, Watkins, M SmithIII, M McCoy, Q Caver, R Brown WR, Abiamiri, T Laws, W Justice, GoCong, T Hunt, J Jarret, Kolb, T Pinkston, Curtis Marsh, Nate Allen, Daniel T'eo, Bryan Smith, Ryan Moats, Matt Ware, Billy McMullen, Barry Gardner

I didn't include B Graham, or D Burgess or S Bradley or Nick Foles in the above list. That's since '99 25 players in 15 or so drafts that did very little in the NFL for the Birds.

But what to do w QB. Can they even get any of the top 3 QBs safely at 13? And if not, then we're talking Chase/Sanchize vs. Bradfort for 20+ ?

PSUEagles - what's your take on Atl and Balti after big mega-contracts to Ryan and Flacco? Did it prevent them from filling other holes?

Without our 2nd round pick, do we even have a chance to move up and get a kid like Wentz?

Pederson said Bradford really wants to be back and that he's "looking forward to working with him," but then kind of walked it back in terms of seeing how the evaluation process shakes out

Green Bay was $10M under the cap in 2015 and will be at least $24M under the cap next season. They're struggling to keep talent around Rogers because they refuse to sign any free agents, ever. So if they can't retain their own drafted players, they're relying on developing players and hitting an unsustainably high percentage rate in the draft.

Atlanta also had $10M in cap space last season. Their problem isn't so much Ryan's contract as it is Ryan's contract PLUS Julio Jones's contract. Ryan's cap hit for 2015 was $19.5M, but Jones was an additional $12.4M. In 2016, that will increase to $23.75M and $15.9M. Those are good players to lock up, but 1/4 of your cap figure on two players is quite a constraint. Even still, they have $19M in cap space for 2016 going into FA and the draft.

No, I can't defend Flacco's contract. That thing is an atrocity. He has the second biggest cap hit of any NFL player in 2016 ($28.55M), second only to Brees at $30M. But it should be noted that fifteen QBs will have a cap hit of $17M or higher in 2016. Nineteen are at $15M or higher (although one is RGIII). And three of the QBs who fall below that line are on their rookie contracts (Winston, Bortles, and Mariotta).

$16 or $17 mil for 4yrs is the sweet spot for me on Bradford. I'd be ok with that. Anything more and we hamstring the rest of the team too much. He needs help on the OL (probably 4 spots in the next 2 years even if you are sanguine on Johnson) and a WR1 to truly maximize the investment. He's not making plays on his own. They need an edge rusher and safety help too to effectively run this new D scheme. They need to really hit on the draft his year and next. Like 2-3 starters per draft.
