Steelers have seemed to be solid org over the years and done ok in drafts. They surely know how to draft LBs! :-)

Be nice to get some fresh perspective and someone from another good org.

So the vid of Wentz --

impressive. now - i realize he was at a small division school - but one that has dominated their level -- he sure looks the part -- height, arm strength and surprisingly agile for a guy of that size and body type. He looked half Big Ben and half Mariotta.

It's hard to predict how a guy translates to the pro game. Needs good protection, good coaching, and good QB IQ and instincts. You don't know til you put the guy in the position.

I'd draft him on that tape alone if we could have gotten him in 2nd round (and had a 2nd round pick) but he's clearly climbing the board and could even be the 2nd QB taken after Goff. I'd be stunned if the Browns don't take Goff. I could also see Chip liking this Wentz kid too. Dal is there before us. What if Houston tries to move up?

I won't complain if we end up with this kid. I won't complain if we end up with Bradford and use #13 on a serious OT/DE/S/Corner that can start as a rookie.

If 19 QBs make 15mil a year or more I have a hard time believing Bradford is going to take 15-16, he's going to want that 20mil range. He was at 13mil last year on his rookie deal. I'm sure Condon will argue he had 3700 yards and set the franchise completion % record -- showed he could take a hit. Dealt with the chaos of Novacare /Chip/Howie /Media - and had an inconsistent line, running game and league leaders in drops. They will argue on a good team he'd have been a 4000+ yard guy with 25 TDs, etc and he came on strong showing full recovery. That he warrants at least 20.

Will be interesting to see how it shakes out. And whether the Birds believe in him, or really want to do a hard-reset and find a rookie prospect to build with over next 5 years?

@Jeff_McLane
#Eagles and OL Lane Johnson are putting the finishing touches on a contract extension that could be completed today, NFL sources said.

Murphstud went on a long rant on his podcast about Howie is only doing these signings to thumb his nose at people that he's in charge. You almost can't make this shit up

Meanwhile, over in San Francisco, it's weird that for how much football gods like Belichick and Saban love Chip, he keeps putting together really underwhelming staffs. And most of the ones who distinguished themselves in Philly are staying in Philly.

well then I'm fine with him thumbing his nose at us

I've decided, more than anything, that the lack of continuity from year to year is what did us in last season. so let's keep most of our guys and roll with it next year, and draft lots of linemen. skip this free agency except for maybe a WR and a decent safety.

The #Eagles and Lane Johnson have agreed on the money in the new deal, per source. It's going to be a big one.

Seems safe to say Peters has one more year, tops, at LT. We'd save $9M by cutting him in 2017.

Lane when moved to LT this season was a monster. The money in this contract covers the position change basically.

They didn't have a choice and had to stay. They were under contract for next year.

Stoutland, Fipp and one other were going to interview in SF but were denied permission.

Did anyone other than Howard Eskin report that?

In any case, what do you think of the 49ers staff?

I'll reserve comment until Joe Banner tells us how bad a deal it is for him

Birds met with Baylor (and former PSU) DE Shawn Oakman at the Senior Bowl. Could be a potential CED replacement at #13
