Take your PEDs - Eagles - off-seasoning

yeah, you can't extend that.

the problem with bradford is he wasn't bad enough or good enough to really give a long-term contract or obviously cut bait. either side (keep or go) can read into him what they want. me, i'm keep and draft a QB somewhere in the middle rounds

Great!
On a scale of 1 to Chris Brown, how pissed is he?

Completely agree. Extending the contract there was an unnecessary risk

The point this guy was making, is that you don't go from 900K to 13mil in salary and give up a precious 2nd round pick, for a guy who is on a one-year trial. That's a signal you want to make this guy your guy. So they could have reworked the last year of his current deal and extended another 2-3 years with some provisions for games played - and gotten him perhaps for 15-16mil spaced out better. As well, he could then have been a trade piece which he cannot now.

The Rams might have done a deal with Cleveland. Or, they might have just cut him and he'd have no deal.

You don't go in like that for a trial year with no sense of how you move on. Maclin should have been a lesson on that. Obviously, Chip was driving the bus at that time - but unless their is interest from an unknown franchise - I think the ONLY competition is Houston. So let's just see what happens. I think they are not willing to go large on Sam. And I think most fans are ok with that, but when we see Nicky 6 and Sanchize or Chase Daniels reminding us of Bobby Hoying, Ty and Koy Detmer Bros., and Mike McMahon or Kevin Klob and AJ Feel-me -- and Sam is taking Houston to playoffs with 4K yards and a 97.4 passer rating - with 26td 12ints -- suddenly the price of a legit starter in the NFL won't seem so steep.

It is tough. The question really is - how far can you go with Sam? Most fans calling in the stations say he won't ever win a SB. But Mark Rypien and Jeff Hostetler and Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson and Earl Morral and Jim Plunkett and Joe Theisman and Phil Simms and Jim McMahon all won SBs. Not to mention the Craig Mortons and Neil Odonells that got to SBs. Is Sam Bradford really worse than all those guys??

We aren't getting Andrew Luck. We aren't getting Goff. So what's the plan???

They were all "good" just not all-time greats. Sam Bradford is actually "good" - people keep saying he sucks and is mediocrity defined, I don't know. I guess we'll see depending on where he plays next year and what comes about. Be nice for the guy to be in the 3rd year with the same system and coaches too. I think Doug Pederson is a good situation for him. HC is an Ex QB - WCO ala Andy/Doug is a nice system for his skill set. He can play with his college buddy and the Defense is going to get a lot better as we finally have a real DC who has a tactical mind. Can game-plan better and get more out of the talent. Knows what works. This guy has had top 10 defenses. Billy Davis never had a D ranked better than 23rd or something like that --

Why do I see Sproles' name as someone who could get cut?

Is this really a possibility?

they would save 3.5 million and only have a cap hit of 1 million if they cut him

it's the one position where they are deep

do they need the dough/cap-room that badly? I feel like he has at least one more dynamic year with a couple big returns - and he was a nice change of pace back who could get in the endzone too. Is it really time to get rid of proven talent? Who would be the PR ? He's such a contrast to Murray and Ryan - why not just keep one of the stronger positions - well -- strong?!

IDK, Paco. Matthews is injury prone. Murray has a lot of excuses for last season but he may be shot or close to it. I'd want to keep Proles around.

pederson may be different, but most of the rest of the guys seemed to like barner. I liked the way he ran, personally. he had one really bad fumble but mostly was solid and ran downfield. he's a younger, cheaper, less accomplished version of Sproles.

Then the Birds need to find another guy to return punts and kicks as well as DS. Agholar might be able to do that but do you want to risk a starting WR on that duty.

Would have to believe we could at least get a late round pick for Sproles.

Sproles wasn't great last year via the EYE test

Plus we have Barner

He was also the only player, at times, that could make an individual play on offense. That playmaking ability, inconsistent as it was, was rare to non-existent last season and would need to be replaced by someone not on this team. I'd rather keep him.

ouch.

I think the reason the Shady thing is going the way it is - is because they really hurt those cops. It wasn't bruised ego, it was cracked ribs. That's fierce. I'm sure all involved regret it. Shady of course has the deep pockets and I could see him getting out of the criminal thing but paying out in a civil situation. I hope he learns a lesson and doesn't do real time. Of the 4 was he kicking and stomping too? Was he a leader? Were they all both parties massively drunk? And - because they were off-duty cops not sure if that's better or worse?

Honeslty don giv a f about it. Shady was straight stoopid to be in that moment at all - walk away man, walk away - no matter what!

Huff and Barner could probably handle kick/punt returns. Sproles just seems so underused/misused, I'd almost not be upset if they cut him. Sort of tired of wondering where he is all the time. Never understood why they didn't use him more in a Wes Welker role.

Philly cops are scumbags. Shady and his friends are scumbags. Mix two groups of scumbags and alcohol and shit happens.
